About The Position

Leads enterprise IT operations, infrastructure, and cybersecurity strategy to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable technology environments that support business performance across office and field operations. Accountable for service delivery, infrastructure stability, system performance, and the organization’s cybersecurity posture, this role delivers reliable execution while strengthening IT Operations and security capabilities to meet the demands of future growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in IT operations, infrastructure, or systems administration, including experience in multi-site environments.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience overseeing managers and highly technical professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise infrastructure environments including server, network, cloud, endpoint, and platform technologies.
  • Proven track record of managing operational performance, service delivery metrics, and incident response processes.
  • Experience owning functional budgets, capital investment planning, and vendor partnerships.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing infrastructure improvements aligned with organizational growth.
  • Experience setting cybersecurity strategy and providing executive oversight of security programs; familiarity with frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, or similar preferred.
  • Strong ability to partner with senior leadership to align technology priorities with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Leads through managers and technical professionals across infrastructure and help desk functions.
  • Sets performance expectations and operational standards for uptime, service quality, and incident response.
  • Builds technical capability and leadership strength within IT operations.
  • Engages directly in the most critical system outages, incidents, or enterprise-impacting escalations.
  • Partners with SVP, Technology to align IT operation priorities with business growth and execution.
  • Strengthens leadership depth and evolves team structure to support increasing scale and complexity over time.
  • Partners with SVP, Technology to define and execute multi-year priorities for IT Operations.
  • Contributes to enterprise planning discussions involving infrastructure investment, system capacity, and overall technology risk.
  • Ensures IT Operations supports cross-functional initiatives and field execution in a reliable and practical way.
  • Strengthens operating practices and builds leadership capability to support the organization’s continued growth.
  • Expands scope of responsibility as the organization grows and technology demands increase.
  • Establishes and/or updates IT operational processes and standards, and contributes to the development and revision of enterprise IT policies.
  • Stays up to date on the latest technology trends and to keep McCownGordon on the industry’s leading edge.
  • Oversees IT service delivery, ensuring timely resolution of incidents, service requests, and system disruptions.
  • Establishes and monitors performance metrics related to response times, service quality, and operational effectiveness.
  • Leads incident management practices, ensuring structured escalation and root cause resolution for high-impact issues.
  • Ensures operational readiness across all environments, including all office locations and job sites.
  • Provides SVP, Technology recommendations on direction for infrastructure strategy, including server, network, cloud, endpoint, and platform environments.
  • Ensures infrastructure environments are stable, secure, scalable, and aligned with evolving business needs.
  • Partners with technical subject matter experts to evaluate new technologies and recommend infrastructure investments.
  • Oversees disaster recovery planning, system redundancy, and business continuity capabilities.
  • Balances immediate operational reliability with long-term infrastructure modernization and scalability.
  • Owns the enterprise cybersecurity strategy, setting direction for risk posture, threat prevention, and security architecture in partnership with the SVP, Technology.
  • Provides executive oversight of the cybersecurity program, ensuring alignment between security initiatives and broader IT and business objectives while the Cybersecurity Analyst drives day-to-day program execution.
  • Champions cybersecurity awareness and accountability across the organization, ensuring security is embedded in technology decisions and operational practices.
  • Evaluates and approves cybersecurity investments, tooling recommendations, and third-party security partnerships based on enterprise risk priorities.
  • Serves as the primary point of escalation for significant security incidents and represents cybersecurity posture to senior leadership and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Has financial accountability for the overall IT Operations function, including annual budget, capital investment planning, expense management, and vendor strategy.
  • Evaluates tradeoffs across cost, performance, scalability, and risk when making infrastructure and technology decisions.
  • Leads vendor selection and performance oversight to ensure service quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Aligns resource allocation with operational priorities and long-term technology roadmap objectives.
