About The Position

As the Director, Information Technology, you will be a key member of the VP's leadership team, shaping and executing the organization's IT strategy and Business Plan to support organizational priorities and long-term outcomes. You will provide strategic leadership for the IT team by building a high-performing and customer-focused team that delivers reliable, secure, and modern technology services. You will create an environment where leaders and employees are empowered to grow, collaborate across organizational boundaries, and continuously improve how technology enables the business. You will partner closely with other teams to align technology capabilities with organizational priorities, foster integrated planning and delivery, and ensure technology teams are viewed as trusted business partners. You will provide strategic advice to the VP, Executive Team, Board of Directors, and business leaders on technology trends, opportunities, risks, and investments that advance Technical Safety BC's strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science or management information systems and 10+ years of experience in IT, involving development of enterprise-wide systems, and senior leadership. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
  • Building and maintaining strong internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to listen and understand organizational and business needs, validating proposed solutions, and inspiring teams in their delivery on objectives.
  • Ability to lead diverse teams both in composition, reporting relationships and physical locations
  • Mastery of the concepts, theories, practices and techniques of the IT field in the context of complex, enterprise systems and platforms.
  • Advanced business acumen to provide broad direction to the development, implementation and maintenance of IT infrastructure, systems and platforms within the strategic business context.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to provide expertise and critical liaison with business stakeholders, other IT leaders, and external vendors/service providers.
  • Advanced strategic planning skills to develop and drive out IT’s overarching strategies and business plans.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to identify, assess and take action to address challenges, develop solutions, and keep the department’s planned objectives on track.

Responsibilities

  • Participate as a member of the VP's leadership team and lead the development and execution of the organization's IT strategy and business plan.
  • Develop strong partnerships across the organization to align technology investments with business priorities.
  • Provide strategic advice to the VP, Executive Team, Board, and business leaders on technology trends, risks, and investments.
  • Provide strategic direction for digital products, business applications, and technology platforms.
  • Champion collaborative ways of working between IT, Product, and business teams to deliver customer-centred technology solutions.
  • Design, build, and continuously develop a high-performing IT leadership team and organizational structure.
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports while fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture.
  • Balance internal capabilities with strategic vendor partnerships to deliver integrated and cost-effective technology solutions.
  • Oversee IT standards, policies, processes, compliance, risk management, information security, and operational resilience.
  • Develop and manage IT operating and capital budgets while ensuring technology investments deliver business value.
