About The Position

The Director of Infection Prevention serves as the Health System’s clinical expert in the prevention and control of infection and is responsible for strategic planning and implementation of the Infection Prevention and Control program at all CMHS hospitals, Ambulatory Clinics and Skilled Nursing Facility. The Director of Infection Prevention is responsible for evaluating, managing and implementing processes to minimize infection risks to patients and personnel through extensive surveillance and an effective reporting system. The Director, Infection Prevention supervises the Infection Prevention RN, Infection Control Coordinator and the Infection Control Liaison Team. Leadership shifts during Infectious Disease event(s) and is flexible dependent upon the situation. The Infection Prevention team hold a primary office at CMH however, 20% of time is allocated to OVCH oversight with a minimum of 32 hours of monthly onsite commitment and 6% to CFH for semi-annual onsite training and monitoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health Epidemiology, Nursing, or Current California licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist or ASCP certified
  • Five (5) years as an infection preventionist or related role in an acute care setting
  • Three (3) years of management experience
  • National Certification in Infection Control (CIC)

  • Master’s Degree
  • Current licensure in California as a Registered Nurse

Responsibilities
