About The Position

The Product Development group at Cell Signaling Technology (CST) is dedicated to applying rigorous scientific methods to design, develop, validate, and commercialize antibodies, assays, and other reagents that address unmet needs in basic and translational biomedical research. The organization's overarching goal is to provide customers with innovative, industry-leading solutions that accelerate their research, ultimately leading to enhanced biological understanding and improved human health. The Director, Immunology Product Development will lead a team of scientists and is responsible for building a globally competitive portfolio of reagents and assays in Immunology, catering to both academic and biopharma customer segments. This role requires the individual to be recognized as an established domain expert in immunology, applying their expertise to refine company strategic objectives and ensure the developed portfolio aligns with the company's mission and goals. The Director will maintain a current understanding of trends in basic and translational immunology and advancements in assay technologies, communicating these effectively to stakeholders. In collaboration with sales and marketing, the Director's team will drive the development of new product concepts and identify strategic opportunities based on domain and market expertise. Extensive engagement with internal and external stakeholders, leveraging a broad network, will support portfolio and business expansion in alignment with company strategic initiatives. Additionally, the Director will have access to laboratory resources to contribute to internal immunology-related research, including hypothesis generation, experimental design, and data interpretation, while guiding bench scientists on data intended for publication.

Requirements

  • PhD in Immunology with relevant research experience, including peer-reviewed publications.
  • Advanced knowledge of immunology, immune-mediated diseases, translational science and the interpretation of data from immunoassays.
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience with 8+ years of direct people management experience.
  • Leverage AI to analyze complex biological datasets, generating novel insights that accelerate scientific decision-making.
  • Capable of innovating applications to drive product development and solve customer needs and problems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional organization skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize efforts appropriately.
  • Effective communication skills. (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated ability to generate novel scientific hypotheses and design complex experiments to test them.

Responsibilities

  • Drive innovative portfolio content development in the immunology research space, tailored to the needs of academic and translational (biopharma) customers.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and strategic marketing to define portfolio scope and objectives.
  • Provide colleagues & management with portfolio updates, including progress-to-goals.
  • Proactively engage with colleagues within and outside Product Development to ensure clarity and cross-functional alignment of activities and objectives.
  • Advocate for commercial support for portfolio content.
  • Contribute to the generation of marketing content.
  • Develop and build trusted relationships with academic and biopharma industry leaders to advance CST’s market leadership position.
  • Generate novel scientific hypotheses and design comprehensive experimental strategies to test them, independently or in collaboration with external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the generation of high-quality data with the intent of authoring and publishing novel findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Foster a culture of scientific excellence, intellectual curiosity, and evidence-based decision making.
  • Lead and/or participate in cross-functional process improvement initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, develop and manage direct reports to foster professional growth and performance.
  • Lead by example to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, teamwork, knowledge sharing, AI-literacy, continuous improvement and inclusiveness.
  • Empower and motivate teams by providing resources, autonomy, and support for them to excel; recognize and reward innovative efforts.
  • Oversee departmental budget, resources, and timelines to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and within scope.
  • Provide team guidance on portfolio content to ensure alignment with company mission and corporate objectives.
  • Provide scientific oversight and direction to bench scientists executing original research experiments designed to yield publication-quality data.
