About The Position

This position is responsible for directing and overseeing the district’s budget and resource allocation processes. It involves developing, implementing, and managing financial plans, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing financial guidance to various departments. The role requires strong analytical skills, strategic planning abilities, and effective leadership to manage financial resources efficiently and support the district's educational goals.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in budget development, financial management, and resource allocation, preferably in a large public sector organization or school district.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of governmental accounting principles and practices.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with specific financial software used by the district.
  • Certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the district’s budget development and resource allocation processes.
  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive financial plans and strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations and policies.
  • Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with departments to develop and manage their budgets.
  • Monitor expenditures and identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the Superintendent, Board of Trustees, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage and mentor a team of financial professionals.
  • Lead and participate in audits and financial reviews.
  • Stay abreast of changes in financial regulations and best practices in public finance.
