About The Position

The Director, International Banking Strategy Execution plays a key role in supporting the identification and implementation of strategic priorities and transformational initiatives across Scotiabank’s International Banking business. The role supports the effective execution of strategic plans, alignment across teams, and achievement of key business goals through business and market analysis, workstream leadership, and cross-functional collaboration across the Americas.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in banking, financial services, and/or management consulting.
  • Strong business acumen, organizational skills, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis; FP&A or corporate finance experience is considered an asset.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and executive reporting skills.
  • Ability to build complex, dynamic financial models and translate analysis into practical business recommendations.
  • Experience with data management and visualization tools is preferred, including VBA, SQL, and Power BI.
  • Proven experience managing resources, programs, or complex workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Project management experience and the ability to deliver results in a challenging, dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to work in a flexible office environment, with non-standard hours and moderate international travel as required.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA and/or business or finance designation preferred.
  • Spanish fluency is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities for structural cost transformation, improved business performance, organizational effectiveness, process improvements, rationalization, and digitization.
  • Lead and support the development of long- and short-term strategic initiatives to optimize performance across costs, revenue, quality, and other key metrics.
  • Design, lead, and oversee research and data analysis for International Banking initiatives to identify opportunities, develop recommendations, and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Develop and apply analytical approaches, including benchmarking, data analysis, and cost rationalization, to support strategic initiatives across International Banking.
  • Lead, oversee, and execute program and project management activities supporting strategic opportunities, including the Structural Cost Transformation program within International Banking.
  • Monitor competitive banking trends, conduct market and financial report analysis, and provide actionable insights relevant to International Banking.
  • Translate Scotiabank’s International Banking strategy into actionable plans through data-driven insights, stakeholder alignment, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for Finance, Business Line leadership, and other executive stakeholders.
  • Partner with local teams to streamline reporting processes and ensure high-quality insights and timely responses to market dynamics.
  • Own, improve, and standardize methodologies and practices used to calculate market KPIs across the footprint.
  • Manage information databases to support the completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of market insights reporting.
