About The Position

This position provides leadership to the Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI) Procedure Center and outpatient services, including cardiac catheterization, vascular surgery, vascular interventional radiology, electrophysiology lab, neurovascular lab, patient prep/recovery area, and all outpatient offerings. The Director leads patient-centered, high-quality care and oversees day-to-day operations in alignment with Carle mission and values. Partnering with physician and APP leaders, the Director fosters a mindset of continuous improvement and grows the team's ability to meet patient needs.

Requirements

  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Bachelor's Degree - Nursing
  • Master's Degree - Nursing or Related; within 5 years
  • Cardiac Cath and Vascular Lab Leadership (Preferred)
  • Ambulatory and/or Procedural
  • Plans and implements programs, organizes functions of a unit, maintains efficient operations.
  • Self-motivated and responsible for patient care in assigned area.
  • Manages fiscal data.
  • Communicates (verbal and written) effectively with all members of interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with inventory management, product utilization analysis and control, contract management and management of vendor communication and process.
  • Remains abreast of industry trends and identifies new opportunities for continued service line evolvement.
  • Assumes responsibility for personnel related duties that include interviewing, disciplinary actions, payroll reporting, scheduling paid leave, and enforcing required rules and regulations.
  • Monitors employee performance ensures timely communications for the purpose of goal setting, performance evaluations, wages increases and continued personnel actions.
  • Develops budget recommendations and monitors budget activities
  • Ensures smooth operation of all departmental functions according to approved policies and in accordance with all state and federal law, standards of professional practice, and applicable accreditation standards.
  • Functions as a role model in nursing, demonstrating competency in clinical judgment, select technical skills, and appropriate knowledge base.
  • Ensures appropriate orientation, education, credentialing, and continuing professional development of personnel.
  • Provides clinical direction to staff and evaluates the level of care provided by the unit nursing staff.
  • Maintains an environment of professionalism. Manages operations of department ensures standards of quality and service are provided in accordance with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Plans and participates in clinical and leadership development, maintains accurate records, and evaluates effectiveness of activities. Utilizes leadership and management skills to assist staff in providing age-specific patient care. Utilizes succession or operation planning by development of the Partnership Council for operations management. Empowers staff to participate in decision making.
  • Responsible for identifying new and/or maintaining equipment/procedures appropriate to provide high level procedural diagnostic services for all labs and recovery areas.
  • Be responsible for and coordinate all cardiovascular database activities for the department and provide monthly reports to the administrative dyad.
  • Responsible for managing the service line leaders on a daily basis, conduct weekly meetings with these leaders and provide timely feedback regarding any issues that may arise.
  • Develops business plan and operational plans ensure efficiency of operation, fiscal control and lead technology advancement in the region.
  • Develops effective relationships with physicians and administration to market a plan to promote growth of product lines.
  • Provides performance reviews for staff and identifies opportunities for feedback, growth and development. Develops, reviews, and revises department policies and procedures.
  • Revises policies and procedures following instructions provided.
  • Updates internal web pages as requested.
  • Provides monthly operating review of key objectives, strategies, staffing and budget variances, clinic and procedure volumes for accountable departments.
  • Assumes responsibility for quality, development, and operational leadership of assigned product lines.
