About The Position

This role offers comprehensive global responsibility for the accurate and timely financial reporting of income taxes. This includes managing the tax provision for Form 10K, Forms 10Q, earnings releases, supporting website schedules, and other SEC filings. The position is also responsible for the effective tax rate, current and deferred tax provisions, and the disclosure of tax risks. A key aspect of this role is ensuring the Tax Department's compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley §404 requirements.

Requirements

  • Comprehensive global responsibility for timely and accurate financial reporting for income taxes in Form 10K, Forms 10Q, earnings releases, supporting websites schedules, and other SEC filings, including effective tax rate as well as current and deferred tax provisions, and disclosure of tax risks.
  • Ensures Tax Department compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley §404 requirements.
  • Maintains deferred tax balances under ASC 740.
  • Highlights and researches GAAP reporting issues relating to taxes and coordinates issue resolution with EY.
  • Consolidates quarterly and year-end tax provisions and ensures proper booking of time-sensitive accounting entries.
  • Manages return to provision reconciliations.
  • Communicates adjustments to EY and Financial Reporting.
  • Performs projections of impact on effective tax rate of various planning alternatives.
  • Works closely with other members of the Tax Department to understand issues and planning impacting the tax provision and deferred taxes.
  • Leads conversations with Tax Department employees based outside the U.S. who lack formal training on U.S. GAAP tax reporting considerations.
  • Coordinates ASC 450 analysis for tax issues.
  • Prepares detailed income tax footnote for consolidated financial statements and other income tax related information required for SEC filings.
  • Manages, directs and oversees a team of one to two professionals based in Houston.
  • During time-sensitive quarterly tax provision process, effectively leads a global team of approximately 20 professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for company-wide quarterly tax, year-end tax and budget tax provision.
  • Ensures Tax Department compliance with SOX §404.
  • Maintains deferred tax balances under ASC 740.
  • In collaboration with VP Tax and Tax Directors, makes determinations of which positions need to be highlighted for special reporting in 10Q/10K.
  • Highlights and researches GAAP reporting issues relating to taxes and coordinates issue resolution with EY.
  • Consolidates quarterly and year-end tax provisions and ensures proper booking of time-sensitive accounting entries.
  • Manages return to provision reconciliations.
  • Communicates adjustments to EY and Financial Reporting.
  • In collaboration with VP Tax makes determinations of whether adjustments represent a “change in estimate” or “errors”.
  • Performs projections of impact on effective tax rate of various planning alternatives.
  • Works closely with other members of the Tax Department to understand issues and planning impacting the tax provision and deferred taxes.
  • Leads conversations with Tax Department employees based outside the U.S. who lack formal training on U.S. GAAP tax reporting considerations.
