About The Position

Michael Baker International is seeking a Director, Financial Reporting & Global Considerations to lead all aspects of financial reporting and global consolidation across multiple entities and ERP systems. The Director will oversee technical accounting, external reporting to private equity stakeholders and lenders, and internal reporting to executive leadership. The Director will lead and manage complex global consolidation processes for newly acquired businesses, ensuring compliance with GAAP and establishing robust governance and controls across all entities. You will have extensive visibility with the CFO and senior leadership, serving as a key strategic partner on complex accounting, consolidation, and reporting matters, and will provide direct leadership and oversight of the Technical Policy & Financial Reporting function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant exposure to technical accounting, consolidations, and financial reporting
  • Active CPA License
  • Prior leadership experience required
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting principles
  • Expertise in consolidation processes and ERP systems (experience with multiple platforms preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of management and external stakeholders
  • Highly motivated self-starter with demonstrated leadership capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Lead the external reporting process, including preparation and review of lender and private equity reporting packages, ensuring compliance with GAAP and debt covenant requirements.
  • Oversee internal reporting to executive management and Board of Directors, delivering accurate and timely consolidated financial statements and analysis.
  • Direct technical accounting research and author technical accounting memos for complex transactions, including acquisitions, profit interest arrangements, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Manage global consolidation of multiple entities operating on different ERP systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Drive integration efforts for newly acquired businesses, including coordination of internal and external accounting and valuation specialists, and implementation of governance and control activities post-close.
  • Develop and maintain corporate accounting policies, ensuring alignment with GAAP and best practices.
  • Serve as primary liaison with external auditors for consolidated financial reporting and technical accounting matters.
  • Oversee key areas of the monthly close process, including intercompany eliminations and consolidation adjustments.
  • Support internal controls activities, including documentation, testing, and reporting for consolidated processes.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development for direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
