About The Position

The Director, Global Safety Management is responsible for leading global safety governance, data management, training and communications, and assurance rhythms for Fluence’s corporate and regional safety programs. This role ensures Fluence maintains a coherent, compliant, and high‑performing Safety Management System by overseeing governance and standards development, global safety data ownership and analytics, safety training and communication leadership, audit coordination, and business resilience enablement, including Emergency Response, Crisis Communication, and Business Continuity Planning.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in high‑risk or operational industry environments; energy sector experience strongly preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in corporate or regional safety roles focused on governance, training and communications, operational excellence, or compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and leading enterprise‑level programs within matrixed and global organizations.
  • Familiarity with Safety Management Systems, including ISO 45001 awareness.
  • Experience developing and managing KPIs, dashboards, analytics, and executive‑level reporting.
  • Experience working with digital safety data management systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to create accountability through systems, routines, and transparent reporting.
  • Strong cross‑functional leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience mentoring and supporting safety coordinators and supporting roles.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and throughout your employment, without the need for employer sponsorship.

  • Experience supporting emergency response, crisis communication, or business continuity planning.
  • Preferred certifications include ISO internal auditor, CSP, ASP, NEBOSH, or equivalent credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and governance of global safety policies, procedures, SOPs, standards, and audit protocols.
  • Maintain revision control, document governance, and structured global rollout, including change communication.
  • Define and maintain a structured global safety governance cadence.
  • Maintain feedback channels to incorporate regional input into standards and training improvements.
  • Own global safety data models, KPI definitions, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Operate and improve systems of record for safety governance artifacts.
  • Ensure consistent safety taxonomy and data quality controls across regions.
  • Translate safety data insights into actionable recommendations for leadership.
  • Maintain a global safety training governance model, including training matrix, cadence, and content lifecycle.
  • Develop and deploy global safety communications.
  • Continuously improve training effectiveness through feedback mechanisms and performance metrics.
  • Maintain global audit, evaluation, and assurance processes.
  • Coordinate with regions to monitor audit findings, escalate risks, and ensure timely remediation.
  • Establish consistent Corrective and Preventive Action tracking and reporting.
  • Lead governance, maintenance, and review of Emergency Response Plans, Crisis Communication protocols, and Business Continuity Plans.
  • Coordinate readiness activities, including tabletop exercises.
  • Partner cross‑functionally to ensure aligned planning and effective response capabilities.
  • Drive global initiatives to improve safety governance consistency, visibility, and reporting.
  • Influence cross‑functional stakeholders without direct authority in a matrixed environment.
  • Coordinate change management for updated safety governance artifacts and programs.
