About The Position

We are seeking a Managing Director, Global Head of Linux to join Cantor Fitzgerald Technology Markets LLC. This role is a senior leadership position, requiring a hands-on approach and the ability to navigate between executive strategy and technical reviews. The successful candidate will lead a global team, focusing on the reliability and modernization of Linux, storage, and platform services. They will define the target architecture, enhance automation, and create a robust and secure platform, while also stabilizing the current infrastructure. This role is crucial in setting the direction for the firm's technology and trading environments, ensuring a high-performing team with clear ownership and modern engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Senior infrastructure leadership experience in complex enterprise or financial services, managing Linux, storage, and automation functions.
  • Strong technical expertise and the ability to guide engineers without direct involvement in changes.
  • Proven track record in replacing manual operational tasks with reliable and automated tooling.
  • Deep understanding of regulated production environments, cyber expectations, and operational resilience.
  • Comfortable working with diverse stakeholders, including senior executives and front-office clients.
  • AI-forward mindset, actively exploring AI and machine learning for infrastructure improvements.
  • Excellent leadership skills, able to set direction, build trust, and raise the team's operating standards.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with a focus on translating business demands into technical roadmaps.
  • Experience in incident response, change control, and vulnerability management.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a 14-person global team, establishing clear ownership, service standards, and engineering practices.
  • Own the strategy and lifecycle management for Linux platforms, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and variants, ensuring compliance, performance, and support.
  • Set the direction for enterprise storage services, covering backup, disaster recovery, capacity planning, and performance across trading and corporate environments.
  • Drive an automation-first approach, utilizing Ansible, Terraform, and Git-based workflows to reduce manual work and enhance infrastructure operations.
  • Partner with engineering teams on Kubernetes, hybrid cloud patterns, and distributed systems, ensuring resilience and operating standards.
  • Embed secure-by-default practices across Linux and storage platforms, managing secrets, privileged access, and implementing security controls.
  • Support high-availability trading environments, focusing on operational discipline, latency, change control, and fast recovery.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, cyber, application, and operations leaders to translate business needs into platform roadmaps and priorities.
  • Ensure a clear Linux and storage strategy, moving towards infrastructure-as-code and self-service models, with a focus on stability and transformation.
