About The Position

The Capital Markets arm of CIBC serves corporate, government and institutional clients with innovative solutions and value added services. From actionable ideas to highly-tailored financing solutions, M&A advice and a strong line-up of capital markets and treasury services, CIBC Capital Markets teams can provide the capabilities clients need to help capitalize on opportunities and manage risk. As a Director, Business Management, Global Distribution, you'll play a key role in driving the Business Management function for Global Distribution, the sales organization within Global Markets. This includes partnering with the business (front office) and across CIBC to support strategy execution, enhance business performance, and drive operational excellence. This role is ideal for a dynamic professional with capital markets experience, who thrives in cross-functional environments and excels at leading initiatives that support the business across multiple areas, including day-to-day execution, new business initiatives, communications, governance, technology, procurement, and other operational priorities. Working on the trading floor in our Toronto office with senior professionals in a progressive team environment, the successful candidate will complete tasks that impact the firm's bottom line, interacting directly with salespeople, traders, and infrastructure groups in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in capital markets or a corporate development function.
  • An undergraduate degree.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple complex priorities.
  • Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with the business, peers, and a wide variety of stakeholders (Finance, Operations, Risk Management, Technology, Procurement, etc.).
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and take ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business and infrastructure teams to design and implement business plans and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare pitch books, marketing material and information dashboards.
  • Work with other Business Managers and Finance to develop senior management and board presentations, conference materials (onsite/offsite), ad-hoc presentations, analysis of sales and trading performance, share-of-wallet insights, and market research.
  • Support the Capital Markets strategy by preparing regular reports and deliverables for senior management on key priorities, notable deals and pipeline activity.
  • Manage new business initiatives, including Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs).
  • Be accessible to the business throughout the day to actively respond to information requests and resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Support strategic and business planning working closely with senior professionals across the business to unlock further growth for CIBC.
  • Prepare client strategy materials, relationship reviews, and account plans.
  • Prepare client briefings for senior management meetings and coordinate client management activities.
  • Coordinate and attest to CIBC governance functions – user access, contracts, risk and controls, etc.
  • Ensure Risk Delegations and Authorized Products Listings are up-to-date.
  • Promptly coordinate and respond to auditor/regulator requests, findings and reports.
  • Act as a compliance liaison supporting registrations, continuing education, working supervisory procedures.
  • Develop and implement improvements to internal procedures and practices including effective and documented internal control structure as evidenced by policies and procedures specific to the individual business activities.
  • Be responsible for the integrity of client information in numerous data repositories including Salesforce.
  • Create performance metric tools and run ad-hoc MIS reporting.
