About The Position

We are searching for the best talent for Director, Global Brand Protection Strategy & Risk Management to join our Global Brand Protection team located in Raritan, NJ. The Director, Global Brand Protection Strategy & Risk Management reports to the VP, Global Brand Protection (GBP), and is primarily responsible for directing and managing an enterprise brand protection capability to assess, monitor, respond to, and proactively prevent/manage/mitigate risks related to illicit trade (counterfeiting, diversion and tampering) of Johnson & Johnson branded products worldwide. These risks potentially impact patient/consumer safety, business value and brand reputation. The role provides enterprise-wide strategic oversight to sustain and improve J&J's capability to effectively identify, prioritize and mitigate known and foreseeable brand protection risks that may compromise the integrity of J&J's end-to-end value chain and the quality and value we deliver to patients/consumers.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant technical and business experience is required.
  • Healthcare and/or consumer/personal care industry experience is required.
  • Experience in effectively presenting to and working with senior leadership; strong facilitation capability with cross-functional groups is required.
  • Strong project management and communication skills (both written and verbal) are required.
  • Recognized leader, who is a dynamic, proactive and decisive person. Adapts well to and initiates change in the organization is required.
  • Ability to build productive relationships and work and influence effectively across cultures and functions without line authority is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in an applicable field of study or certification would be an asset.
  • Management experience at a Director or Sr Director level is preferred.
  • Prior work history in brand protection, Quality/compliance or investigations/enforcement is preferred.
  • Adept understanding of key relevant business processes, such as financial planning, strategy and business planning, regulatory requirements, supply chain strategies and strong analytical skills are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with Brand Protection (BP) Technology team to develop an expert view of the global illicit trade threat environment and associated risks to our businesses and patients/consumers; consolidates data for business unit leads.
  • Manages GBP Leadership Team meetings and other team meetings and events to optimize efficiency, effectiveness and culture of the team and the value it delivers.
  • Manages a team of 3 or more support staff. Develop talent by managing the 5 conversations, leading with trust, credibility, empowerment, and driving inclusivity.
  • Works with the BP Technology team and other team members to innovate, develop and sustain capabilities to advance and deliver value to our businesses and patients/consumers through effective brand protection risk management.
  • Partners with GBP team and Finance to identify business needs and develop/deliver LRFP/JU/NU/BP. Leads the Strategic Business planning process.
  • Drives the PMO process and Project Matrix to enable strategic projects to scale and embed brand protection throughout the enterprise and deliver external disruptions.
  • Optimizes collaboration with cross-functional/regional GBP global program teams and other key stakeholders such as Quality, Legal, Communications, Government Affairs & Policy, Supply Chain, and other Tech Ops & Risk functions to manage cross-functional enterprise brand protection programs, such as Enterprise Risk Management, Message Mapping, Enterprise Brand Protection Council, and External Manufacturing illicit trade risk audits to ensure alignment, visibility/action toward critical issues, resource optimization and project execution.
  • Partners with GBP functional team and Regional leads to inform and secure business sponsorship and resource allocation (i.e., make the business case) for brand protection projects and programs.
  • Manages Enterprise Brand Protection Council scope, agenda and meetings to enable cross-functional governance, oversight and strategic advisement of brand protection programs.
  • Leads, shapes and influences brand protection industry thinking and practice and collaborates with industry partners to sustain knowledge base and benchmark best practices, while continually moving J&J GBP toward best-in-class performance.
  • Builds and continues to develop a strong cohesive/collaborative GBP team, ensuring that the responsibilities, accountabilities, and authorities of team members are defined, linked to strategies, well understood, and carried out in an inclusive and performance-oriented environment.
  • Directs and manages GBP's strategy and financial/business planning processes and associated governance and stakeholder engagement model.
  • Oversees and maintains GBP's centralized project portfolio database and process for tracking, reporting and accountability.
  • Tracks and reports out on GBP team performance against KPIs and goals and objectives; effectively communicates status to team members.
  • Keeps team members informed on key business, organizational and performance topics and raises awareness and understanding of illicit trade risks and brand protection across the broader organization and externally, as appropriate.
  • Supports VP GBP for talent strategy management, performance planning and base business needs.
