Director, Foundation Grants Strategy

Central Health•Austin, TX

About The Position

The Director, Foundation Grants Strategy leads the Central Health Foundation’s institutional funding and grants strategy and coordinates Foundation-led and collaborative grant opportunities across the Central Health Enterprise. The Director identifies and evaluates funding opportunities, develops and coordinates proposals, cultivates institutional funder relationships, and supports administration of grants and subgrants held or issued by the Foundation. The role partners with Foundation leadership, Central Health, CommUnityCare, Sendero, and existing enterprise grants functions to align funding opportunities with organizational priorities and clarify responsibilities across the grant lifecycle. The Director serves as the Foundation’s grants subject-matter expert and supports coordinated enterprise visibility into funding opportunities, submissions, awards, requirements, and risks. The position does not replace or directly supervise grants-management functions within Central Health, CommUnityCare, or Sendero. The Director develops and evaluates the Foundation’s grants portfolio and strategy; coordinates opportunity review, proposal development, submissions, and institutional funder relationships; and oversees post-award coordination for Foundation-held grants. The role also coordinates grants and subgrants issued by the Foundation, supports restricted-fund and compliance coordination, maintains portfolio reporting, and improves grants processes. Work is carried out with relevant enterprise teams and Foundation partners, with responsibilities for entity-specific grants assigned through the approved grants-governance process.

  • Maintain current knowledge of grants management, healthcare philanthropy, institutional giving, public-sector funding, and funder requirements.
  • Lead assigned grants-related projects and coordinate consultants, vendors, or temporary resources within delegated authority, as applicable.
