About The Position

Clarify is seeking a Director, Financial Planning & Analysis to build and own the financial models and analyses that drive decision-making at a fast-scaling, AI-first healthcare technology company. This role is part of the Finance team and reports to the CFO. The position involves creating financial models and analyses to inform the CFO's decisions, shaping the company's financial narrative for internal and external stakeholders, and supporting the CFO in fundraising, M&A, and other critical initiatives. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role for individuals with a background in demanding, high-accountability environments such as investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, or specialty/credit lending, who are ready to transition from advising to owning the financial operations of a company. The role will be instrumental in modeling the company's evolving commercial model, which includes success-fee revenue, at-risk contracts, and multi-year outcomes-based partnerships, alongside existing SaaS revenue. The Director will also be involved in fundraising, M&A evaluation and integration, and long-range forecasting for a unique business model. Collaboration with Operations and Sales teams on revenue recognition, ARR tracking, and commercial mechanics is also expected. While healthcare experience is not required, a strong analytical rigor and the ability to learn quickly are essential.

Requirements

  • 6-10+ years of progressive finance experience.
  • Meaningful experience in a rigorous, high-accountability environment (investment banking, private equity, hedge funds, or specialty/credit lending).
  • Successful transition into an operating company.
  • Advanced financial modeling and diligence skills; ability to build complex three-statement models or scenario analyses from scratch under pressure.
  • Hands-on experience automating budgeting and forecasting processes, including evaluating and selecting FP&A/planning tools and using AI tools like Claude.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new domains quickly, with at least one significant career pivot (industry, function, or company stage).
  • AI-first mindset with daily use of AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) for modeling, diligence, and reporting.
  • Strong business acumen; ability to build credibility with leadership and translate financial analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a complex, evolving business model.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition standards (ASC 606), particularly for complex or multi-element contracts.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience at a bank, private equity fund, hedge fund, or healthcare/life sciences credit lender, with direct exposure to healthcare, life sciences, or tech-enabled services companies.
  • Experience supporting fundraising processes (equity or debt) and/or M&A diligence and integration, ideally in a venture-backed or sponsor-backed environment.
  • Familiarity with SaaS metrics and valuation frameworks (ARR, NRR, CAC/LTV, magic number) and eagerness to extend that fluency to outcomes-based and success-fee revenue models.
  • Experience implementing or scaling financial systems, dashboards, or reporting infrastructure.
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA.
  • Prior experience operating in a venture-backed, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

  • Redesign and automate the budgeting and forecasting process end-to-end, moving away from manual, spreadsheet-based workflows.
  • Evaluate and select FP&A/planning tools to replace manual processes and lead their implementation and adoption.
  • Utilize AI tools, such as Claude, to automate recurring modeling, data consolidation, and reporting tasks within the budget and forecast cycle.
  • Lead corporate-wide financial planning, budgeting, and long-range forecasting, including scenario modeling for blended SaaS and outcomes-based revenue streams.
  • Build and maintain the company's core financial model, incorporating success-fee contracts, at-risk revenue, and multi-year partnerships alongside SaaS metrics.
  • Provide financial analysis to the CFO on strategic decisions, including pricing models, new product lines, market expansion, and resource allocation.
  • Proactively identify and communicate financial and operational drivers, risks, overages, and optimization opportunities.
  • Build and own fundraising materials, investor models, and diligence support for equity and debt processes.
  • Lead financial diligence and integration modeling for M&A activities.
  • Develop board- and investor-ready analyses that translate complex operating data into clear narratives on growth, margin, and capital efficiency.
  • Support the CFO on cap table management, valuation considerations, and capital structure planning.
  • Partner with Accounting on revenue recognition for complex contracts, ensuring ASC 606 compliance.
  • Own ARR tracking and reporting, building infrastructure to differentiate contracted revenue, success fees, and bookings.
  • Partner with Sales and Operations on quote-to-cash and sales-ops processes, including deal structuring, pricing, and SFDC reporting.
  • Drive process rigor and controls across revenue operations to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and auditability.
  • Prepare timely and accurate Budget vs. Actual (BVA) analysis for leadership, the Board, and external stakeholders.
  • Improve reporting infrastructure, dashboards, and tools, leveraging AI to enhance visibility and decision-making speed.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with Sales, Product, Engineering, and People & Culture leaders.
