Director, Finance (Invisible Fence® Brand)

Radio Systems CorporationKnoxville, TN

About The Position

The Director, Finance serves as the embedded financial leader for the Invisible Fence® Brand (IFB), functioning across the strategic oversight of a CFO, the financial stewardship of a Controller, and the analytical rigor of an FP&A Analyst. While operating within an established corporate finance structure without direct authority over enterprise level decisions, this role is the primary financial voice for the IFB business unit and is expected to think, advise, and act with the full breadth of financial leadership in mind. Reporting directly to the CFO of PetSafe Brands®, this position carries significant executive visibility and is uniquely positioned to influence revenue strategy, cost discipline, and long-term planning for IFB within the broader PetSafe Brands® portfolio. This role is purpose built for a finance professional who thrives in environments requiring both vision and execution. On any given day, the Director may be crafting a strategic financial narrative for the CFO in the morning and building a forecast model in the afternoon. Influence here is earned through the quality of analysis, clarity of communication, and the strength of relationships built across the organization. The Director must be equally comfortable presenting to a room of senior leaders and performing the detailed analytical work that makes those conversations possible. This is not a role where authority is granted by title; it is one where impact is created through insight, credibility, and the ability to align stakeholders around a shared financial picture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting required; MBA strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive finance experience, with at least five years in FP&A; exposure to controllership or CFO level responsibilities is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically, shifting fluidly between high level analysis and hands on execution as the situation demands.
  • Proven track record of influencing business decisions through financial insight and analytical rigor, without relying on positional authority.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to senior leaders and non-finance audiences alike.
  • Exceptional relationship building, collaboration, and communication skills with a consultative approach to cross functional partnership.
  • Excellent financial modeling, analytical, and decision making capabilities with a data oriented mindset; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Solid foundation in finance and accounting principles with high attention to detail; experience with financial planning tools and ERP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary financial advisor to the IFB Leadership Team, providing strategic perspective to guide long term planning, investment decisions, and business performance.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear executive narratives that inform and influence decisions at the business unit and enterprise level.
  • Lead development of the medium to long term financial and strategic plan, identifying growth opportunities, financial risks, and profitability levers.
  • Prepare and present financial summaries for the Executive Group Team and Board of Directors; proactively surface risks and opportunities to guide leadership decisions.
  • Partner with accounting on monthly and quarterly close processes to validate financials, ensure reporting accuracy, and drive consistency across the business unit.
  • Maintain oversight of the IFB price book and review promotional programs including pricing, discounting, and incentive frameworks for financial soundness and strategic alignment.
  • Manage monthly and quarterly KPI and management reporting; research and provide commentary on expenses, flagging anomalies and driving accountability across functional areas.
  • Develop annual operating plans and deliver ongoing actuals to plan analysis, surfacing variance drivers and recommending corrective actions.
  • Perform comprehensive P&L analysis across all forecasting cycles, including detailed variance analysis by functional area relative to budget and prior year.
  • Maintain financial models and decision support tools that generate actionable insights and highlight risks and opportunities across the IFB business.
  • Partner across IFB departments to support planning and monitoring of key initiatives; continuously improve forecasting processes, operating models, and planning systems.
  • Support special projects including ad hoc analysis, Board material preparation, and cross functional finance initiatives.
