Director, Finance Strategy & Operations

Commure•,
•$190,000 - $220,000

About The Position

Commure is hiring a Director, Finance Strategy & Operations to lead cross-functional programs that connect finance with the rest of the business. This is a process, technology, and alignment role—not a forecasting or accounting seat. The director owns complex initiatives from scope through completion, such as quote-to-cash, customer and contract data infrastructure, planning-to-close handoffs, and finance integration for acquisitions. The role works with senior company leaders and helps build the infrastructure needed to scale a pre-IPO healthcare technology finance organization beyond $1 billion in revenue. The director translates between finance and business teams, aligns stakeholders on definitions, ownership, and timelines, and designs processes and the systems that support them. They partner with Business Systems, Engineering, and vendors on implementation, and own finance-side requirements and acceptance for tools across the technology stack. The role also identifies and pilots AI and automation opportunities in finance processes, in partnership with the AI & Technology Finance lead, and establishes documentation, controls, and ownership that support scale and IPO readiness. The position involves frequent program and workstream meetings, executive updates, cross-functional alignment, requirements and process documentation, milestone reviews, and planning-cycle coordination. Key stakeholders include the Head of FP&A, Head of Finance, Chief Legal & Corporate Officer, and CEO.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience across FP&A, strategic finance, business operations, finance transformation, consulting, and/or chief-of-staff roles.
  • Experience working in a high-growth, unstructured environment.
  • Track record as the directly responsible individual for large cross-functional programs, such as quote-to-cash, ERP or planning-platform implementations, data warehouse or reporting builds, or M&A integration, delivered through teams whose members did not report to you.
  • Strong process orientation, including the ability to map current processes, define future processes, assign owners, and establish a cadence.
  • Fluency with finance and business systems, including NetSuite, Salesforce, planning platforms, data warehouses, and internal tooling.
  • Ability to write requirements and acceptance criteria for engineers and vendors.
  • Finance and accounting literacy sufficient to understand process needs relating to close, forecasting, revenue recognition, and board reporting.
  • Hands-on LLM literacy and a point of view on applying AI to finance operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including leading executive steering meetings, writing decision memos, and briefing the CFO concisely.
  • Low ego, high ownership, and comfort being accountable for outcomes that are not fully within your control.
  • Employees must follow organizational information security policies, report confirmed or potential security events or risks, and attest to these requirements upon hire and annually.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SQL and low-code or no-code dashboarding tools such as Retool or Looker.
  • Experience in healthcare SaaS.
  • Experience in pre-IPO environments.
  • Experience with M&A integration.
  • Program management certification such as PMP or Lean/Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

  • Own cross-functional finance programs from scope and success definition through delivery, coordinating teams across finance, revenue operations, engineering, legal, people, and product.
  • Break programs into workstreams, assign owners, run operating cadences, unblock stalled work, and maintain accountability for overall outcomes.
  • Align finance and business stakeholders on shared definitions, owners, and timelines, and ensure finance processes reflect business operations.
  • Brief executives directly, frame decisions, and represent finance on programs.
  • Map current-state processes, design future-state processes, and partner with Business Systems, Engineering, and vendors to implement them.
  • Define finance-side requirements and acceptance criteria for systems and tools, including NetSuite, Salesforce, planning platforms, data warehouses, and internal tooling.
  • Take ownership of ambiguous, high-priority projects and structure, staff, and complete them.
  • Identify, pilot, and institutionalize effective LLM and automation tools in finance processes; partner with the AI & Technology Finance lead on standards and governance.
  • Document processes, controls, and ownership to prepare the finance organization for scale and IPO readiness.
  • Run program standups and workstream check-ins; draft requirements, decision memos, and process maps; and handle cross-functional questions without a clear finance owner.
  • Provide status and risk updates to finance leadership, lead stakeholder steering meetings and alignment sessions, and review system changes for finance impact.
  • Review close and forecast cycles and recommend process improvements; maintain operating rhythms such as calendars, OKR progress, and decision logs; report on AI and automation pilots.
  • Launch major programs, refresh the finance process and systems roadmap, coordinate annual planning across finance and the business, and prepare finance readiness assessments covering controls, documentation, audit, and IPO readiness.
  • Comply with information security policies, protect organizational assets, report confirmed or potential security events and risks, and attest to these requirements upon hire and annually.
