About The Position

The Director, Finance & Accounting has direct oversight responsibility for the day-to-day financial affairs of LifeCenter Northwest (LCNW) and all financial functions. The Director oversees preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and provides financial leadership and analytical support to the organization. The Director closely monitors the financial health of the organization and implements changes as necessary to ensure the organization’s status as a going concern. In addition, the Director serves as a member of the Extended Senior Leadership Team, providing financial leadership and analytical support to help drive improved outcomes.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field from a four-year college or university.
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience in finance & accounting.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in supervision and/or management of others, etc. preferred.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or applicable medical or religious exemption will be required as a condition of employment upon offer.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred.
  • Previous experience in healthcare accounting or finance and/or non-profit accounting or finance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic financial leadership and input on issues affecting the organization now and those anticipated in the future.
  • Provides accurate and reliable information to the Leadership Team to support effective business and strategic decision-making to reach financial and strategic goals.
  • Ensures personal knowledge of the relevant current practices for OPOs, and is knowledgeable regarding innovations, trends and issues that can or will impact the future success of the organization.
  • Participates in LCNW’s annual strategic planning, which helps establish the goals and organizational budget for the Finance and Accounting Department.
  • Ensures compliance with the financial regulations set forth by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and collaborates effectively with the operational department leads to optimize the organization’s reimbursement.
  • Oversees development and execution of effective accounting strategies.
  • Ensures compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and other relevant regulatory and accreditation requirements (including, for example, IRS, AOPO, UNOS, AATB, CMS, etc.) via operational policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Ensures appropriate internal controls are in place to protect the organization’s assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Oversees and engages in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the Department and ensures the consistent application and compliance with Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Establishes and monitors staff performance and development goals, sets objectives, assigns accountabilities, establishes priorities and conducts continuous performance feedback.
  • Effectively, trains, mentors and develops staff using a supportive and collaborative approach.
  • Ensures effective communication and coordination with Department personnel and Leadership Team.
  • Works in concert with Quality & Regulatory Affairs (QRA) Department to reduce risk and to oversee LCNW’s asset management policies and programs, including for purchasing and vendor management.
  • Develops and oversees the long-term and short-term direction and focus for the Department.
  • Develops and oversees the Departmental budget.
  • Reviews and approves departmental invoices, timesheets and expense reports.
  • Collaborates with People Resources for effective administration and operation of LCNW’s 403(b) retirement plan and oversees payroll operations.
  • Represents LCNW in interactions with auditors, fiscal intermediaries, banks, investment professionals, vendors, and other advisors on financial matters.
  • Supports administration and renewal of LCNW’s business insurance policies and programs.
  • Oversees the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
  • Leads the development of the annual budget using target metrics established by senior leadership.
  • Ensures that all necessary financial and operational information is presented in a timely and effective manner that meets the needs of the organization.
  • This position is accountable for the direction and strategy for assigned department(s) and responsible for the direct oversight of the leadership for that team, and as a result will provide direction to various individuals within the department.
  • This position is a member of the Extended Senior Leadership Team (ESLT) of LifeCenter Northwest and has significant influence interdepartmentally as well as cross functionally, providing guidance to others, including managers, directors and senior executives.
  • Performs other related duties as required by the needs of the company and the management team.
  • Participates in, and may lead, employee committees and events.
  • Complies with applicable laws, regulations, and LifeCenter policies and procedures.
