About The Position

Founded in 1973, BFL Construction has a diverse portfolio of projects within the Institutional, Non-Profit, Commercial, Education, Health & Biomedical, Industrial, and Multi-Family space and is part of the Revird portfolio of companies. As a specialist in construction management, we provide complete oversight of each project from preconstruction to close-out and ongoing services throughout the warranty period. Urban Metro Builders Inc. (Company) is a division of BFL Construction and specializes in multi-family and single-family residential projects. Reporting to the President and as part of the Strategic team, the Director, Field Operations is responsible for overall management of field operations for both Phoenix and Tucson. In this position, you will lead a team of superintendents and collaborate with other project management teams to ensure project objectives are met. In addition, you will help create and execute the company strategic plan by representing the field objectives. Driving continuous improvement, standard operating procedures and training the field team as essential elements of this role.

Requirements

10+ years of Superintendent experience working on commercial, institutional, or residential projects with a spend of at least $30 million+.
5+ years leading and supervising field teams with exposure to participating in strategic planning an asset.
Proven ability to drive change and implement standard operating procedures with team adoption.
Technical diploma or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
Excellent relationship building skills with strong focus on client relationship.
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction such as technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, drawings, specifications, procedures, scheduling, and safety requirements.
Proven creative problem-solving skills.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with Procore being an asset.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to successfully translate technical information to non-technical individuals.
Strong relationship and team-building skills with proven integrity dealing with Clients, Trades and Consultants.

Responsibilities

Participate on the strategic team and aid in creating, communicating and executing the company strategic plan.
Coach, manage and support field staff in Tucson and Phoenix, including creating a talent bench for growth.
Drive field process improvement initiatives, including training, communicating and delegating to ensure buy-in and absorption.
Lead the workforce planning of field teams to ensure coverage and skill alignment to project needs.
Provide lessons learned and best practices for superintendents and build action plans to address site issues in collaboration with the superintendent.
Organize and lead quarterly superintendent meetings and following up on commitments post meeting.
Provide input in pre-construction of projects (site logistics, preliminary schedules) based on your availability.
Support field staff with trade contractors to ensure we model our values and maintain positive relationships.
Work with project superintendents for compliance and enforcement of safety policies.
Ensure best practices for safety and providing safety metrics to the field staff.
Cascade company goals, company updates and align team goals to achieve a successful outcome.
Actively participate in continuing education, including technology software, i.e. Procore, Viewpoint.
Represent the company at company-sponsored, industry and community events.
Live and model the behaviors as aligned with BFL Constructions Values.
