About The Position

Sabertooth Sports & Entertainment is seeking a Director of Facility Operations for the F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, TN. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of facility operations, including staff management, budget control, maintenance, safety, and vendor relations. The Director will ensure the facility operates efficiently and meets high standards, including maintaining NHL quality ice surfaces. This position requires a strong understanding of various facility systems and excellent leadership skills.

Requirements

  • College degree in sports administration, industrial engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in public facility management or related field.
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar supervisory or management position.
  • Basic working knowledge of facility operations, including HVAC, electrical, lighting, audio visual systems, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to interact with internal and external customers clearly, effectively, and professionally.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check (criminal history, driving history, character references).
  • Possess a valid driver’s license, suitable driving history, and be insurable by SS&E’s insurance carrier.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent speaking and listening skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee hiring, training, and management of the operations department staff (full-time and part-time).
  • Ensure completion of onboarding, workplace, and safety-related trainings for staff.
  • Conduct staff evaluations, provide feedback, and manage disciplinary actions.
  • Prepare weekly work schedules and communicate event-related information to subordinates.
  • Formulate, manage, and track the yearly operations department operating and capital improvements budgets.
  • Assist in the preparation and negotiation of service agreements for maintenance contracts and other services.
  • Implement and train operations employees on operating procedures, preventative maintenance schedules, emergency plans, and safety management policies.
  • Install and maintain NHL quality ice surface(s) and ice maintenance equipment.
  • Purchase and maintain all facility equipment and track asset management.
  • Monitor, document, and report all incident occurrences, including employee accidents, facility damage, safety violations, and disciplinary issues.
  • Manage relationships with service providers (housekeeping, fire suppression, HVAC, etc.).
  • Develop, train, and supervise ice personnel on operating procedures, maintenance, emergency plans, and safety policies.
  • Conduct weekly walkthroughs of the rink system to ensure safety requirements and operability.
  • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing information to develop solutions.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Operations teams at other locations.
  • Inspect operating functions to evaluate efficiency and investigate/resolve operational problems and complaints.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to discuss procedures, problems, and policy changes.
  • Assemble and maintain a reference library of plans, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Monitor and respond to building alarms, automated system alerts, and facility notifications.
  • Serve as facility Manager on Duty.
  • Attend facility staff and senior management meetings.
  • Coordinate and lead weekly operations staff meetings.
  • Serve on committees as a representative of the operations department.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties and other duties as assigned by manager.
