About The Position

The Director, ERP/SAP Product and Platform Architecture will lead the strategy, design, execution, and governance of the full SAP platform and development stack to enable scalable, secure, and efficient business operations across a complex multi-instance SAP ECC and S/4 landscape. This leader will translate business capability requirements into scalable, clean-core based solution architecture decisions. This leader plays a critical role in shaping how technology supports DePuy Synthes’ transformation and growth, ensuring alignment between IT systems and business needs across functions. This is an exciting opportunity to influence large-scale ERP/SAP initiatives, drive innovation, and build modern ERP capabilities that power a global MedTech organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10–12 years of progressive experience planning, designing, delivering, and supporting enterprise SAP products and platforms including SAP ECC, SAP S/4, SAP BTP, and SAP RISE solutions.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-scale SAP architecture initiatives and complex system integrations, including migration to SAP S/4.
  • Deep technical experience architecting and delivering SAP platform and development services including administration (BASIS), development (ABAP, SAP IS), SAP BTP, SAP security, SAP archiving, SAP data migration, and release/ change/transport & landscape management.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture principles, including integration, security, and data management.
  • Experience building and leading cross-functional teams including off shore GCC and SI vendors and influencing stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to explain simply and recommend technology-driven architecture options and drive decision making decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience operating in highly regulated Life Sciences industry with strong compliance and validation expectations.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree (MBA or MS) preferred.
  • Experience with cloud-based architecture and modern integration technologies.
  • Knowledge of data architecture, analytics platforms, and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Strong SAP functional understanding of financial and operational business processes supported by SAP systems.
  • Enterprise Architecture or ERP certifications (e.g., TOGAF, SAP certification) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the ERP/SAP platform architecture strategy including SAP ECC, S/4HANA and BTP aligned with enterprise business goals and technology roadmap.
  • Strategize and design the end-to-end SAP platform architecture — Basis (multi-instance), BTP services, and the integration landscape.
  • Define and govern development standards for ABAP, BTP extensions, and SAP IS integrations; own and enforce clean-core principles across all delivery.
  • Lead architecture reviews and hold design authority — approving, requiring rework on, or escalating technical decisions across on and offshore deliverables.
  • Drive technical strategy for the S/4HANA migration — including system design, integration patterns, extensibility approach, and data migration architecture.
  • Provide technical mentorship to on and offshore architects and leads; serve as the escalation point for complex design decisions.
  • Lead prioritization decisions to balance regulatory, operational, and strategic initiatives while maximizing business value and meeting critical Day 1 and TSA exit separation objectives.
  • Lead the architecture and technical design and integration of SAP systems, ensuring interoperability across platforms, applications, and data environments.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies (e.g. Joule, GenAI on BTP, event mesh) or enhancements and build a pragmatic adoption roadmap tied to business outcomes.
  • Oversee architecture standards, governance, and best practices to ensure scalability, security, and reliability of ERP solutions.
  • Collaborate with business and IT leaders to translate functional requirements into technical solutions and architecture designs.
  • Lead cross-functional programs and initiatives involving ERP transformation, upgrades, and system implementations.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support delivery of ERP capabilities.
  • Guide architectural decision-making, including trade-offs related to cost, performance, and long-term sustainability.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements for IT systems.
