About The Position

Oversee all company equipment assets including tractors, trailers, chassis, yard trucks, forklifts, and other operational equipment. Maintain accurate tracking and visibility of all assets across the network. Monitor equipment utilization to maximize productivity and reduce unnecessary costs. Develop and manage equipment allocation strategies based on operational demand. Lead equipment replacement planning and lifecycle management. Build and manage a preventative maintenance program for all company assets. Develop maintenance schedules, repair standards, and compliance procedures. Monitor equipment downtime and implement corrective actions to improve reliability. Establish relationships with maintenance vendors, dealerships, and repair facilities nationwide. Review repair invoices, negotiate pricing, and ensure cost controls are maintained. Ensure all equipment meets DOT, FMCSA, and company safety standards. Oversee GPS and telematics systems including tracking, monitoring, and reporting. Develop KPI reporting related to utilization, maintenance costs, downtime, fuel efficiency, and asset performance. Build scalable processes to support company growth and operational expansion. Support onboarding and implementation of new equipment programs and operational initiatives. Develop standard operating procedures related to equipment management. Ensure company compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, registration, licensing, and inspection requirements. Lead and mentor equipment coordinators, maintenance personnel, and related staff as the department grows.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in fleet, transportation, or equipment management leadership.
  • Strong understanding of trucking, drayage, trailer operations, DOT compliance, and fleet maintenance.
  • Experience negotiating equipment purchases, leases, and vendor contracts.
  • Experience managing nationwide transportation assets.
  • Familiarity with Samsara or similar telematics platforms.
  • Experience building maintenance and vendor networks across multiple markets.
  • Understanding of operational P&L impacts related to equipment utilization and maintenance.
  • Experience supporting both company-driver and owner-operator environments.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required based on experience.
