About The Position

The Director of Epic Informatics & Training sets direction and leads the Informatics Training teams who design and support Epic EHR training and workflow optimization. This position works closely with Epic and clinical leadership to develop the EHR training strategy and to maintain Epic key performance indicators for the Carle enterprise. This position is responsible for leading and optimizing: All Epic Informatics & Training initiatives including in classroom, virtual and hybrid learning. Proactively communicating with key stakeholders and leaders concerning any changes, updates, or problems with the EHR that may impact use of the system; solicit ongoing feedback from partners about their experience with and use of the system; serve as the escalation point for any customer satisfaction, resource or budgetary risks and issues; support the optimization of the EHR by supplying and reviewing performance reports; and working with leaders on identifying and executing ongoing EHR performance improvement optimization activities. Epic performance programs such as Honor Roll, Gold Stars and Staying Current. Ensure Carle Health and our partners are fully benefiting from Epic best practice functions and features as we advance care in our growing communities. Collaborate with Epic leaders across Carle Health to achieve high levels of performance within Epic's performance program. Lead the annual effort and strive for excellence. Carle Health Epic training and optimization program. Promote the standardization of Epic workflows across the Carle enterprise. Responsible for the Epic Informatics & Training team members and their individual and collective performance. Collaborate with the Associate Chief Medical Officer, Health Informatics to optimize Epic competency and user efficiency The Director of Informatics and Training will be an influential leader with superior interpersonal and communication abilities, business, project management, problem solving, and EHR education knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree: Related Field
  • Healthcare Information Technology: 10 years
  • Team Management: 3 years
  • Epic Project Management and/or Implementation - 3 years
  • EHR training best practices
  • Demonstrated, relevant experience leading teams and projects.
  • Demonstrated high customer service and service recovery skills.
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication and servant leadership.
  • Demonstrated success working in a matrixed work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Epic Informatics & Training team and their performance.
  • Ensure the structure and program meets the needs of our growing organization.
  • Evaluate customer satisfaction and efficiencies with the EHR via tools, reports, KLAS, Signal, NEAT, etc.
  • Create recommendations for changes based on the results.
  • Participate in Carle Committees where Epic Informatics and Training programs require representation.
  • Support oversight for new implementations and projects related to Epic Informatics and Training.
  • Collaborate with Application teams.
  • Manage the Epic Informatics & Training budget
  • Ensure cost-effectiveness, cost-to-budget forecasting and planning.
  • Align operational and clinical workflows into the training curriculum.
  • Lead and coordinate annual Epic Performance Programs.
  • Identify opportunities for training and workflow enhancements that bring Carle closer to Foundation.
  • Align Epic Informatics and Training and mastery program to meet the needs of end users.
  • Participate in Epic Clinical and IT leadership responsibilities such as coordinating meetings across teams, such as downtimes, change control on call, and project go lives.
