About The Position

The Environmental Sustainability Director plays a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and overseeing sustainable initiatives within an organization. Their mission is to align business strategies with environmental goals. This position can be based in Los Angeles, CA, Dallas, TX, Chicago, IL, Las Vegas, NV, Indianapolis, IN, Columbus, OH, Philadelphia, PA or Atlanta, GA.

Requirements

  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience required
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability principles, climate, and environment frameworks, and 3PL/Logistics industry best practices
  • Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations and corporate governance frameworks
  • Proficiency in conducting climate and environment impact assessments, audits, and reporting.
  • Ability to develop and implement sustainability strategies and action plans.
  • Project management skills to oversee climate and environment initiatives and monitor progress.
  • Analytical skills to measure and evaluate the social and environmental impact of company activities.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks, such as STBI
  • Experience in managing sustainability-related certifications, such as B Corp or ISO 14001
  • Understanding of supply chain management and ethical sourcing practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and inspire stakeholders.
  • Leadership abilities to drive change and foster a culture of sustainability.
  • Influencing and negotiation skills to gain support for climate and environment initiatives
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and address sustainability challenges.
  • Collaboration and teamwork to work across departments and with external partners.
  • Strategic thinking to align climate and environment efforts with overall business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and implement GEODIS’s climate and environment strategy, ensuring it aligns with the company's mission, vision, and values.
  • Ensures the company adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, and reports on climate and environment initiatives and performance.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, customers.
  • Assesses and reduces GEODIS’s environmental footprint, promoting sustainability practices, and exploring renewable energy options.
  • Identifies and manages potential climate and environmental risks, such as reputational risks, environmental hazards.
  • Collaborate with industry associations, NGOs, and government bodies to drive broader sustainability initiatives and to advocate positive change.
  • Supports GEODIS’ programs for Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, Ethics, Compliance, CSR, and Sustainability
