About The Position

The EVS Director is responsible for the management and oversight of the Environmental Services (EVS) department. This role will provide leadership and strategic direction to the hospital and enterprise, directs business practices to uphold CHOC mission and values, develops new and emerging solutions for sustained growth and effective day-to-day operations and lead a goal-oriented hospital EVS department to create a team environment that is effective, productive, and rewarding. Together with the team, this position will create a safe, clean, and comfortable environment where patients can heal. Requirements

  • Minimum five (5) years of environmental services management level experience in healthcare.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or four (4) years management related experience accepted in lieu of education.
  • HAZWOPER Training within 90 days of onboarding if not already completed in last 12 months.
  • Knowledge and skills in administration and leadership, employee relations, communication, management of fiscal resources, and regulatory in health care industry.
  • Familiarity with CAL-OSHA, The Joint Commission, CMS and other regulatory requirements.
  • Computer skills that are efficient in Microsoft office, environmental services software, and basic functions of a computer.
  • Knowledge of basic infection prevention mitigation strategies in healthcare.
  • Light - Moderate energy level
  • Lift and carry 25-35 lbs.
  • Push/pull 50-100 lbs. (ie. empty bed, stretcher).
  • Bending, Carry Objects, Climbing, Keyboard use/repetitive motion, Pinching/fine motor activities, Push/Pull, Reaching forward, Reaching overhead, Sitting, Squat/kneel/crawl (Squad & Knee), Standing, Talk or hear, Taste or smell, Twisting, Walking, Wrist position deviation
  • Lifting (Floor to waist level) - Occasional 0-35%
  • Lifting (Waist level and above) - Occasional 0-35%
  • Color Discrimination, Depth Perception, Far Vision, Hearing, Near Vision
  • Airborn Communicable Disease, Bloodborne Pathogens, Chemical, Dust Particular Matter, Extreme Noise Levels, Extreme Temperatures, Radiation, Uneven Surfaces or Elevations

Nice To Haves

  • Over five (5) years of environmental services management level experience.
  • Master’s degree in healthcare, management, or related field.
  • Bilingual - English/ Spanish.
  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP).
