About The Position

The Director of Environmental Services, Hospital provides strategic and operational leadership for all environmental services functions across the Trinity Health Hospital campus, supporting a clean, safe, and welcoming environment of care. This role oversees housekeeping, laundry and linen operations, environmental surveillance, equipment maintenance, and supply management to ensure consistent service quality and operational effectiveness. The Director establishes and maintains high standards for infection prevention, regulatory compliance, and service excellence, contributing directly to a positive patient and staff experience. Working closely with clinical, facilities, and administrative leaders, this position fosters collaboration, advances safety practices, optimizes workflows, and supports ongoing readiness for regulatory surveys within a well-coordinated, team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Sufficient experience in environmental services
  • 3 to 5 years management experience
  • Working knowledge computer skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Two years of technical schooling with emphasis in environmental services preferred

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily environmental services operations, ensuring consistent cleaning, laundry, and linen practices that support infection prevention and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement standards, work methods, and staffing schedules to maintain cleanliness, safety, and efficiency across all hospital areas.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, supply inventories, and procurement processes to ensure reliable and cost-effective operations.
  • Monitor environmental surveillance activities, audit performance, and lead corrective actions to support quality outcomes and survey readiness.
  • Provide leadership, training, and performance development for Environmental Services staff to promote competency, engagement, and service excellence.
  • Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to address environmental needs, enhance patient experience, and support facility-wide safety initiatives.
