About The Position

Plans, organizes, and directs the system wide Environment of Care (EOC) program, strategy, and activities at Orlando Health. Fully onsite located in downtown Orlando.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field required.
  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in safety, life safety, or a related field, including five (5) years of healthcare management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and aligns EOC strategies to the goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs system wide Environment of Care programs, activities, and training programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, standards, and accreditation requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of EOC Council function; revision and evaluation of management plans annually; coordination and management of the processes for continually monitoring and internally reporting EOC related data, and system administration of the enterprise wide EOC tracer program.
  • Maintains strong relationships with system, regional, and site leadership to support Orlando Health goals, objectives, and performance.
  • Collaborates with system, regional, and site leadership teams to develop, guide, and support improvement strategies related to EOC.
  • Partners and strategizes with Corporate Safety leaders and other stakeholders including, but not limited to, Facilities Management, Infection Prevention, Emergency Management, and Regulatory Affairs, to develop and implement regional and system-wide tactical strategies and activities to:
  • Evaluate compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures, federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation requirements;
  • Support performance improvement activities; and
  • Meet key performance measures
  • Leads system-wide preparation for and response to external regulatory agency inspections, findings, complaints, and/or compliance issues related to the EOC.
  • Acts as liaison for Orlando Health with applicable external regulatory agencies, including Local, State, Federal, and accreditation agencies.
  • Responds to, attends, and/or supports external EOC related surveys/inspections as necessary, to include, but not limited to, Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and The Joint Commission (TJC).
  • Develops and leads presentations to executive, regional and/or site leaders.
  • Leads collaborative teams through influence to support a continued state of improvement.
  • Maintains knowledge of existing and evaluates emerging federal, state and local regulations, standards, trends, and best practices related to the EOC. Evaluates compliance options and recommends strategies to minimize impact(s) and cost(s) while optimizing effective control of identified hazards.
  • Works closely with stakeholders in a consultative role to assess data and analytics needs; recommends appropriate strategies, methods, and analyses to improve decision making.
  • Assists the Senior Director develop and implement programs, policies, and procedures to support patient, visitor, guest, and team member safety all Orlando Health facilities.
  • Assists the Senior Director with establishment and/or integration of EOC policies and programs in new and/or acquired Orlando Health facilities.
  • Manages and oversees the development, approval, and revision of EOC policies and procedures.
  • Leads system administration of EOC survey/inspection software.
  • Coordinates and manages survey plans, strategy, and activities for EOC elements of multi-disciplinary internal mock surveys, in collaboration with Regulatory department leadership.
  • Works collaboratively with corporate subject matter experts having responsibility for functions within the EOC (i.e. medical equipment, fire safety, utility systems, safety, security, hazardous materials and waste, and infection prevention and control.).
  • Assists with the maintenance of the Statement of Conditions with The Joint Commission on behalf of the organization.
  • Collaboratively assists the Senior Director in budget estimates, controlling expenditures, and establishing operational standards for the Safety Department.
  • Assists the Senior Director lead, and be an active member of the Environment of Care (EOC) Executive Committee and EOC subject matter expert.
  • Manages day-to-day operations to ensure coverage, workflow, positive work environment, assignment of work to meet operational needs, and completion of tasks assigned to team members according to established deadlines.
  • Maintains regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
