About The Position

The Director, Enterprise Data & AI Strategy is a strategic enterprise leader responsible for defining and executing a global data and AI strategy that accelerates digital transformation, enables informed decision-making, and improves operational excellence. The role oversees enterprise data, AI, and automation frameworks and integration, while shaping the organization’s long-term data vision and governance model. The Director reports to the VP of IT and partners closely with executive leadership, particularly Finance, to align investments with business strategy and priorities. The position leads the AI and automation roadmap, enterprise data strategy and governance, analytics and business intelligence, project governance, and data and AI portfolio budgeting. It builds and develops teams, oversees delivery of data, MDM, AI, and automation initiatives, maintains compliance and data integrity, and manages stakeholder and vendor relationships. The role is based at 111 West Oak Ave., Tampa, Florida 33602, and is eligible for an annual bonus.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data science, engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
At least 12 years of experience in data analytics, AI/ML, or automation roles in life sciences, biotechnology, healthcare, or manufacturing.
At least 8 years of management experience leading cross-functional teams and projects.
Proven experience building and scaling data teams and platforms.
Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau, and cloud data platforms such as Azure or AWS.
Experience building a data warehouse or data marketplace and integrating multiple source systems using custom APIs, common middleware platforms, and advanced SQL.
Hands-on experience with AI/ML technologies, RPA tools, and building automation frameworks.
Experience in IT project management and business analysis, with expertise in at least one of these functional processes: Procure to Pay, Demand to Build, Order to Cash, or financial processes.
Strong understanding of enterprise applications, including ERP, CRM, QMS, LIMS, and HRIS.
Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with executives, business stakeholders, and technology partners.
Ability to lead teams in a data-driven manner using metrics and project reviews.
Familiarity with strategic deployment of IT systems and developing standard operating procedures for end-user training and adoption.
Deep understanding of IT General Controls, GxP regulations, and CSV standards.

Responsibilities

Own the enterprise AI and automation strategy, identify innovation opportunities, scale AI use cases, and embed automation across business processes.
Develop and execute a roadmap for AI and intelligent automation initiatives focused on operational efficiency and return on investment.
Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including generative AI, RPA, and machine-learning models and tools such as Power Automate, UI Path, Automation Anywhere, and Fabric.
Collaborate with executive sponsors to prioritize AI investments.
Build and lead a high-performing team of data scientists, database administrators, AI/ML engineers, and automation engineers; foster innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Manage intake of project and enhancement requests, prepare initial time, resource, and cost estimates, and align priorities with leadership and stakeholders.
Oversee delivery of MDM, AI, and automation projects and enhancements, ensuring strategic alignment and delivery on time and within budget; monitor progress and take corrective action to mitigate risks.
Establish enterprise data standards for data ethics and AI governance, and define and implement data governance policies, standards, and practices.
Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance across systems in accordance with CSV requirements; partner with executive leadership on evolving regulations and frameworks, including GxP, GDPR, and the AI Act.
Develop understanding of data flows supporting core business processes, including Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Demand to Build, Record to Report, Hire to Retire, Regulatory, and Compliance.
Review and approve requirements written by the business analysis team and collaborate with business analysts on clear, comprehensive project documentation.
Shape the enterprise BI and analytics roadmap to enable predictive insights and AI-driven decision-making for executives and business units.
Ensure projects adhere to SOX, GxP, and data-integrity requirements; partner with Quality to maintain compliance and work with cross-functional teams to resolve quality or audit findings.
Build and maintain business stakeholder relationships, communicate clearly, align data initiatives with business needs and budgets, and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Own the data and AI portfolio budget in partnership with the VP of IT, optimize spending across global programs, and manage resource allocation.
Continuously evaluate and improve Procure to Pay, Demand to Build, Order to Cash, and financial processes using best practices and innovative solutions.
Develop strategic relationships with global technology vendors, consulting partners, and AI innovators; oversee vendor service delivery, application-development roadmap visibility, business-user enhancements, and alignment with business goals.
