About The Position

The Director, Enterprise Data & AI Strategy is a strategic enterprise leader responsible for defining and executing an AI strategy alongside global data initiatives to accelerate digital transformation, enable informed decision-making, and improve operational excellence. The role oversees the integration of AI capabilities, enterprise data, and automation; shapes the organization’s long-term data vision and governance model; and aligns data and AI investments with strategic business priorities. The Director reports to the VP of IT and partners closely with executive leadership, including Finance. This role leads the enterprise AI and automation strategy, data strategy and governance, analytics and business intelligence roadmap, and associated project portfolio. It builds and develops teams, manages budgets and resources, oversees project governance and delivery, ensures regulatory and controls compliance, improves core business processes, and maintains relationships with technology vendors and business stakeholders. The position is based at 111 West Oak Ave., Tampa, Florida.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
At least 12 years of experience in data analytics, AI/ML, or automation roles in life sciences, biotechnology, healthcare, or manufacturing.
At least 8 years of management experience leading cross-functional teams and projects.
Demonstrated experience building and scaling data teams and platforms.
Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau, and cloud data platforms such as Azure or AWS.
Experience building a data warehouse or data marketplace and integrating multiple source systems using custom APIs, common middleware platforms, and advanced SQL.
Hands-on experience with AI/ML technologies, RPA tools, and automation frameworks.
Experience in IT project management and business analysis, with expertise in at least one of these processes: Procure to Pay, Demand to Build, Order to Cash, or financial processes.
Strong understanding of enterprise applications, including ERP, CRM, QMS, LIMS, and HRIS.
Excellent communication skills and ability to engage executives, business stakeholders, and technology partners.
Ability to lead teams using data-driven practices, metrics, and project reviews.
Familiarity with strategic IT systems deployment and development of standard operating procedures for end-user training and adoption.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree preferred.
Experience with technologies such as Power Automate, UiPath, Automation Anywhere, or Fabric.

Responsibilities

Define and execute the enterprise AI, data management, and automation strategy, identifying innovation opportunities and scaling use cases across business processes.
Develop and execute a roadmap for AI and intelligent automation initiatives focused on operational efficiency and return on investment.
Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including generative AI, RPA, and machine learning solutions; collaborate with executive sponsors to prioritize AI investments.
Build and lead a high-performing team of data scientists, database administrators, AI/ML engineers, and automation engineers, fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Oversee project and enhancement request intake, initial time/resource/cost estimates, prioritization, and delivery of MDM, AI, and automation projects in alignment with strategic goals, schedules, and budgets.
Monitor project progress and take corrective action to mitigate risks and support successful outcomes.
Establish enterprise data standards, data ethics and AI governance, and data governance policies, standards, and practices; ensure data quality, integrity, security, and compliance across systems, including CSV process requirements.
Partner with executive leadership on compliance with evolving regulations and frameworks, including GxP, GDPR, and the AI Act.
Develop understanding of data flows supporting core business processes, including Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Demand to Build, Record to Report, Hire to Retire, Regulatory, and Compliance.
Review and approve requirements prepared by the business analysis team and collaborate with business analysts on comprehensive project documentation.
Shape the enterprise BI and analytics roadmap to enable predictive insights and AI-driven decision-making for executives and business units.
Ensure projects adhere to SOX, GxP, and data integrity requirements; partner with Quality on compliance and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality or audit findings.
Build and maintain relationships with business stakeholders, align data initiatives with business needs and budgets, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Own the data and AI portfolio budget in partnership with the VP of IT, optimize spending across global programs, and allocate resources in line with project needs, team capabilities, and workload.
Continuously evaluate and improve Procure to Pay, Demand to Build, Order to Cash, and financial processes using best practices and innovative solutions.
Develop strategic partnerships with technology vendors, consulting partners, and AI innovators; oversee vendor relationships, service delivery, application development roadmaps, and business-user enhancements.
