About The Position

Are you a nursing leader with exceptional management and organizational skills to lead our staff of nursing professionals and oversee patient care? In this role, you will direct the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives. Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization. Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives. Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives. Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required.
  • 3+ years of experience in Emergency Department Services
  • Must have a current Alabama Registered Nurse license or a current Compact State Registered Nurse license without restrictions
  • Handle with Care certification and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
  • Must have an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) within 90 days of hire or transfer.
  • EMTALA & EHAC training in Healthstream upon hire and once each year following.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
  • Master's degree MHA, MSN, MBA or related field highly preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role highly preferred
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) is preferred within one year of employment/eligibility.
