About The Position

Bevi is seeking a Director of Embedded Engineering to lead the electrical and firmware team responsible for the electronics and firmware at the heart of its connected beverage machines. The role owns embedded architecture across the product portfolio, including multi-board electrical design, single-board computer and system-on-module platforms, microcontroller firmware, and the interfaces that connect them. The director will set technical direction and standards, guide platform consolidation and reuse, and balance reliability, cost, component availability, and development speed. This is a technical and people leadership position responsible for managing and growing Electrical Engineers and Firmware Engineers. The director will lead new product development from concept and prototype through board bring-up, verification, certification, and production release, while also sustaining deployed products through firmware releases, fleet diagnostics, remote management, root-cause analysis, and supply continuity work. The role partners with engineering, quality, manufacturing, contract manufacturers, design partners, and suppliers to ensure products can be manufactured, tested, and supported at scale. The position reports to the VP of Engineering and is part of the engineering leadership team. The role is expected to be in the office at least three days per week. Bevi describes its compensation philosophy as market-driven, performance-based, equitable, and growth-focused, with a total rewards approach that includes base pay, bonuses, benefits, and equity. The posted salary range is $198,900–$245,700 USD. All Bevi employees receive stock options; full-time employees are invited to participate in the Total Rewards plan.

  • At least 10 years of embedded hardware and firmware experience.
  • At least 5 years leading and growing teams that include both electrical and firmware engineers.
  • Track record of taking connected electromechanical products from prototype through production and sustaining them in the field at scale.
  • Experience taking electronics into high-volume production with overseas contract manufacturers, including DFM/DFT, NPI transfer, PCBA yield and quality issues, and on-site CM support.
  • Strong board-level electrical design expertise, including mixed-signal, power, motor and actuator drive, and sensor interfacing.
  • Strong embedded C/C++ experience on ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers, including bare-metal and RTOS-based systems.
  • Experience with embedded Linux or Android (AOSP) platforms on SBC- or SoM-based designs.
  • Hands-on familiarity with UART, I2C, SPI, USB, CAN, Ethernet, and wireless protocols including WiFi, LTE, and BLE.
  • Experience bringing products through regulatory certification, including UL, FCC, CE/UKCA, and EMC, and supporting international market entry.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to contribute in engineering design reviews and clearly explain risks and tradeoffs to executives.
