About The Position

The Director, eBusiness Applications leads Airgas’ multi-year Digital & IT strategic programs in the Americas, advancing technology strategy and solutions to support long-term market leadership and a best-in-class customer experience across digital channels. The role serves as the overall Digital & IT leader for Airgas CX Elevate, directly supervising the dedicated D&IT program team and its delivery. The Director partners closely with Airgas business leadership, the DDS Americas organization, global D&IT teams, and strategic third-party partners, maintaining ongoing engagement with eBusiness leaders to support digital-channel growth objectives. The position reports to the VP of Digital & IT Americas and is part of the DDS Americas leadership team. The role requires a strong leadership background, demonstrated delivery of business-focused application implementations, and deep understanding of eCommerce, eBusiness, and customer-experience technology ecosystems. It includes oversight of eBusiness roadmaps, program planning and execution, teams and vendors, platform operations, project governance, and budgets. The position is hybrid, with three days per week in the Radnor, Pennsylvania office.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, Business, or a related discipline.
10+ years of experience in Business/Operations, IT, or Program Management.
5+ years managing teams of internal employees and contractors.
Experience with large-scale eCommerce/eBusiness system implementations from project inception through closure.
Demonstrated understanding of the full lifecycle of project implementation and support.
Experience with complex implementations involving packaged software and custom development.
Strong written and oral communication skills, including leading discussions, presenting to audiences of varying sizes, and interacting with all organizational levels.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to cooperate with others, coordinate activities, and accomplish goals.
Experience leading and managing cross-functional project team members and deliverables.
Demonstrated analytical and effective problem-solving ability.
Ability to coordinate between teams and maintain a business-solution-oriented approach.
Strong facilitation and influencing skills, including gaining cross-departmental consensus.
Ability to oversee modern headless/composable architectures, REST APIs, enterprise middleware integrations, and cloud-native infrastructure such as AWS/Kubernetes.
Ability to guide B2B eCommerce lifecycle operations, including high-volume SKU catalogs, AI/ML-driven search, digital onboarding, checkout workflows, and self-service portals.
Ability to ensure alignment on web security, compliance, scalability, and CI/CD practices.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with Salesforce Commerce (B2B), Sales, Marketing, Data, Revenue, and Agentforce.
Familiarity with Coveo Search, Contentful CMS, Bynder DAM, Viamedici PIM 360, and Okta CIAM, or equivalent technologies.
Familiarity with webMethods and SAP S/4HANA.

Responsibilities

Maintain a forward-looking understanding of evolving eCommerce technologies, including AI, and work with eBusiness teams to incorporate relevant technologies into the strategic eBusiness roadmap.
Partner with eBusiness leadership to co-own product roadmaps and ensure IT deliverables support Airgas growth across digital channels.
Drive Digital & IT planning, execution, and deployment of Airgas Elevate and other eBusiness programs.
Build and maintain a high-performing, motivated team by attracting qualified professionals, creating career opportunities, and implementing development programs.
Lead project and run-state teams, including third-party consulting resources where applicable.
Deliver IT applications and services to the business by leveraging internal resources and third-party relationships.
Collaborate with Airgas AMS, IT Procurement, and infrastructure teams to achieve and maintain excellence in customer-experience platform performance and resilience.
Collaborate with Financial Ops Control and participate in project and departmental budget preparation, tracking, and approvals.
Develop and execute procedures, processes, and guidelines that improve project execution.
Collaborate across teams to document project scope, resources, timing, goals, and deliverables for IT gating and financial approval.
Oversee strategic vendor and implementation-partner relationships, governance, and Statements of Work; ensure deliverable quality, SLA adherence, and contract compliance.
Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.
Manage employees and D&IT team activities, including planning, assigning, and reviewing work; follow HR processes and programs, provide timely and consistent employee feedback, and foster teamwork.
Oversee modern headless/composable architectures, REST APIs, enterprise middleware integrations, and cloud-native infrastructure.
Guide the end-to-end B2B eCommerce technology lifecycle, including SKU catalog management, AI/ML-driven search, digital onboarding, checkout workflows, and self-service portals.
Ensure alignment with web security standards and compliance supporting annual audits, system scalability, and CI/CD delivery practices.
