About The Position

The Director of Donor Engagement – Women's Philanthropy leads strategy and execution for engaging women philanthropists across Greater Washington as a key driver of Federation's campaign growth, donor retention, leadership development, and long-term philanthropic impact. This role is focused on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding high-potential and significant donors while advancing individuals along a clear path toward deeper giving, meaningful engagement, and volunteer leadership. As part of a fully integrated FRD team, this role contributes to coordinated moves management across the campaign and serves as the primary strategist for Women's Philanthropy fundraising and engagement efforts.

Requirements

  • 5–7+ years fundraising, donor engagement, sales, or relationship management experience.
  • Proven success managing donor portfolios and closing gifts.
  • Experience working with volunteer leaders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a select portfolio of high-potential and significant donors.
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospects and execute strategic moves management plans.
  • Develop strategies that increase donor acquisition, retention, upgrades, and multi-generational leadership participation.
  • Use data and metrics to track donor progression and fundraising performance.
  • Lead strategy for engaging and growing Women’s Philanthropy.
  • Oversee engagement and stewardship strategies for key donor constituencies and leadership groups.
  • Design and execute donor-centric experiences including educational programs, leadership initiatives, major events, and immersive travel experiences.
  • Serve as lead on several high-impact, high-touch donor events such as the L’Chaim Brunch, International Lion of Judah Conference, and various travel missions for Women’s Philanthropy donors.
  • Partner with Women’s Philanthropy volunteer leadership to establish vision and goals.
  • Develop and support volunteer leaders as active partners in donor outreach and solicitation.
  • Maintain and leverage engagement of WP leaders, current and former, to increase buy-in, support current board and tackle big ideas together.
  • Supervise one FRD team member.
  • Partner across FRD in a collaborative and integrated fundraising model.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to support fundraising, stewardship, and engagement efforts.
  • Partner with Senior Director, Legacy Giving and the Jewish Community Foundation on legacy giving conversations.
  • Identify opportunities to expand philanthropic impact among female-identifying donors.
