The Director, Digital Product Management will be part of a growing Marketing and Communications team and lead the vision, strategy, and execution for AARP Foundation’s external-facing products, with a particular focus on digital platforms. This role is responsible for leading a team within the Marketing and Communications department to ensure we deliver an accessible, user centric, and mission aligned digital experience for older adults with low income, volunteers, and supporters. This role drives product vision, oversees cross-functional execution, and ensures that solutions are grounded in user insights, data, and measurable outcomes. The Director will partner closely with technology, programming, and broader marketing teams to translate user insights into intuitive site experience, improved content delivery, and seamless functionality. This leader will guide continuous improvement cycles, and partner with technology to deliver web-related priorities and roadmaps. This will ensure the Foundation’s digital presence effectively supports organizational goals, through exceptional service delivery. The ideal candidate brings a strong track record of product leadership, including full lifecycle product development as well as UX and UI expertise, alongside a passion for mission-driven work, and the ability to translate complex needs into clear, actionable product roadmaps.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in product management, including leading end‑to‑end product strategy and roadmaps in complex or multi‑stakeholder environments
  • Proven success developing and scaling digital or service-based products that deliver measurable social, economic, or customer impact
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams—including technology, marketing, and program teams—through collaborative product development cycles
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data, user research, and market insights into actionable, mission-aligned product decisions
  • Expertise in human-centered design with strong UX and UI lens, agile methodologies, and iterative product discovery
  • Strong problem‑solving and systems‑thinking capabilities, especially in environments with resource constraints or ambiguous problem spaces
  • Demonstrated leadership presence, coaching ability, and commitment to fostering a collaborative, inclusive team culture amongst direct reports and others
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Product Management, Engineering, Computer Science, Design, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Develops special/high-level strategic projects across departments.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams on strategic business unit objectives.
  • Monitors industry to ensure that products and initiatives are competitive and provides analysis to sales management to support product development.
  • Uses market intelligence to determine advertising products, target audiences, revenue potential, and key metrics.
  • Identifies product gaps and industry opportunities to influence advertising product roadmap in accordance with sales strategy and organizational viability.
  • Designs, develops, and implements marketing campaigns and program strategies to achieve sales objectives.
  • Communicates marketplace data and competitive conditions to sales and marketing leadership to inform sales strategy and product development.
  • Adjusts marketing strategies and plans to meet evolving market and client needs and seeks to build upon existing channels or creates new ad opportunities based on the organization’s media channels.
