The purpose of this role is to support in identifying, designing and providing the appropriate deposits solution for clients. Contribute to the overall success of the Treasury Management Officer (TMO) in ensuring specific client pitches, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the overall business strategies and objectives. Ensure that all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant corporate banking experience
  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.
  • Demonstrated a history of successful business development activity with complex clients
  • Proven success at selling deposit or fixed income products
  • Experience in FX / Fixed Income / Money Market industry through trading or sales is a definite asset
  • Thorough knowledge of the financial services industry including regulatory trends and economic conditions as they relate to short-term investment products.
  • Experience modifying preconfigured solutions to meet complex problems
  • Demonstrated prior experience working in a highly matrixed and complex organization
  • Experience in contact negotiations with both clients and legal counsel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to identify and secure new transaction business
  • Serve as a deposits solutions subject matter expert with TMO on a defined set of products and capabilities with a deep understanding of our clients' needs and current industry trends; Offering technical and product related assistance to TMOs in pursuit of new clients and/or in support of expansion opportunities with existing clients; either on the phone or in-person sales presentations.
  • Drive a client focused culture to develop the most appropriate deposits solution that enhances the overall client relationship and leverage internal and external stakeholder relationships, systems and knowledge. (e.g. legal, Fintech provider, GWO)
  • Support TMO in building short and long term strategies for deposits growth, working in conjunction with relationship managers, Business Deposits Portfolio Management, Money Market Sales, GBM Treasury, Canadian Banking Treasury, and other Funding teams.
  • In collaboration with the TMO, responsible for providing deposits solutions to clients
  • Contribute to the clients’ and GTB business goals by providing the right deposits solutions, that retains and increases the overall profitability of the client relationship while maintaining an acceptable level of risk
  • In close collaboration with the TMO and GBM, identify market trends that could drive new opportunities prepare and deliver client pitches, structure and analyze new transactions
  • Engage with TMO and RMs to better understand pain points and refine solutions while regularly communicating critical client feedback to Direct Reports
  • Review Product terms and credit/legal documentation in conjunction with internal and external Legal Counsel, culminating in the closing of transactions
  • Identify and provide risk mitigation strategies such that working with the TMO and GBM RM, the risk of any program is within the Bank’s risk appetite and our risk culture is adhered to
  • As it relates to solutions, pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
