About The Position

Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing, LP is seeking a Director of Data Science to lead the department’s data and AI strategy implementation. The role serves as a key staff member for the VP, Sales Planning on major strategic data projects, including pricing, sales forecasting, and other business opportunities. The director develops and implements department strategy, provides leadership and direction to managers, and works with business leaders and other teams to deliver comprehensive solutions to business needs.

The position oversees the integration of new technologies and initiatives, evaluates data-processing proposals, and works with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others to gain cooperation and resolve problems. It requires advanced knowledge of data science and AI, a deep understanding of industry pricing tools, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities. The role requires 10 or more years of industry-specific and/or complementary business experience and a college or university degree or equivalent; an advanced degree is preferred. People management is part of the role.

Requirements

• 10 or more years of industry-specific and/or complementary business experience.
• College or university degree or equivalent.
• Advanced knowledge in data science and AI.
• Deep understanding of pricing tools used in the industry.
• Strong leadership skills, including the ability to facilitate team and business meetings effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with project stakeholders at all levels, including senior management.
• Ability to work across teams and manage priorities to accomplish multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide and implement recommended solutions to complex business needs, including pricing, reporting, and detailed sales forecasting.
• Communicate with business leaders, end users, and management layers to gain actionable business insights by providing necessary data, tools, and support mechanisms.
• Perform additional projects and duties to support ongoing business needs.
• Oversee the integration of new technologies and initiatives into the business unit.
• Stay abreast of advances in technology.
• Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and others to solicit cooperation and resolve problems.
• Evaluate data-processing proposals to assess project feasibility and requirements.
• Develop and implement strategic plans and objectives for the department or sub-function effectively and innovatively.
• Work with other leaders to establish strategic plans and work toward achieving them.
• Provide leadership and direction to managers in the division or department.
