About The Position
Quantium is a global leader in data science and artificial intelligence, with a team of over 1,200 people across 14 locations. They partner with large corporations to unlock value from data and analytics. The US team works with major retailers, banks, and enterprise clients, embedding AI and data science solutions into business processes. As they scale their AI Solutions capability, they are looking for a Director, Data Science & AI to lead the design and delivery of production-grade AI solutions from their Austin hub. This role will lead the technical direction for the Consumer & Retail data science team, managing data scientists to build AI applications that solve client problems. The position requires a blend of deep technical expertise and people leadership, translating emerging AI capabilities into practical, production-ready solutions, while also contributing to business development and team capability building.
Requirements
- 7+ years' experience in data science, AI/ML solution delivery or technical consulting, with a track record of leading teams to deliver production-grade AI/ML solutions.
- Strong Python skills and practical experience building with frameworks like LangChain or LangGraph, with a deep understanding of GenAI and LLM applications.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP), containerization and cloud-native development.
- A track record of coaching and developing data scientists, building team capability and culture.
- Experience with effort estimation, scoping and contributing to business development activities.
- Strong ability to translate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and architecture of complex AI solutions, evaluating alternative approaches and setting technical standards for production-grade AI development across the team.
- Manage a team of data scientists, providing coaching, mentorship and performance management, and fostering a culture of curiosity and continuous learning.
- Oversee end-to-end delivery of AI solutions from design through to production deployment, balancing technical excellence with commercial pragmatism.
- Contribute to technical scoping, effort estimation and client presentations during pre-sales, translating complex AI concepts into business value.
- Shape the direction of the AI Solutions team, identify opportunities for reusable components, and stay connected to the wider AI ecosystem.
