About The Position

Ritual is seeking a Director, Data & Analytics to lead how the company measures performance as it grows from a direct-to-consumer business into an omnichannel brand spanning its ecommerce site, Amazon and other marketplaces, and national retail partners. The role will answer executive questions about channel growth, brand media effectiveness, and allocation of growth investment, and communicate findings to the CGO, CFO, and executive team in ways that shape decisions. Reporting to the SVP, Product & Engineering, the Director will lead analysts and data engineers, partner with leaders across the business, and develop a modern, stable data platform to meet the company’s changing needs. The Director will own connected measurement of customer value and acquisition costs across channels; marketing investment measurement across media mix modeling, attribution, geo-lift, and incrementality; and consistent retail, marketplace, and DTC performance measurement. The role will also own business reporting, partner with Finance on planning, produce insights and executive materials for budget and board discussions, and grow the team’s analytical capabilities and data engineering practices.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in analytics, data science, or marketing measurement, beginning as a practitioner analyst with strong business instincts.
  • Several years of experience leading lean, technical teams of analysts and data or analytics engineers, with credibility on pipeline, modeling, and data-quality tradeoffs.
  • Hands-on marketing measurement expertise across MMM, multi-touch attribution, incrementality testing, and geo-lift, including understanding where each method breaks and a track record of using measurement to rationalize upper-funnel spend.
  • Experience measuring marketing efficiency at a consumer brand selling both DTC and through retail, including marketplace channels, subscription or e-commerce economics, cohort retention, and cross-channel effects.
  • Retail data experience, including POS and sell-through data, retailer data portals, syndicated and household panel data, and reconciling sell-in to consumer takeaway.
  • Demonstrated executive influence and storytelling, including analyses and executive materials that changed C-suite or board-level decisions.
  • Experience coaching analysts to produce executive-level analyses and materials.
  • Deep experience with dbt and a modern data stack, including Snowflake and a BI semantic layer, as a hands-on practitioner or as a manager of the engineers who own it.

  • Partner with the VP, Omnichannel Media to plan, test, and optimize the full media budget.
  • Own the marketing measurement ecosystem across MMM, attribution, geo-lift, and incrementality, including assessing upper-funnel investment in terms of reach and household penetration.
  • Bring retail and Amazon measurement up to the same standard as DTC, covering sell-in versus sell-through, distribution and velocity, promotions, syndicated and panel data, and new-to-brand customers.
  • Serve as the executive voice on business performance for the CGO, CFO, and leadership team.
  • Own business reporting, partner with Finance on planning, identify important insights, and create materials for planning, budget, and board conversations.
