The Center for Population Health Data Science (CPHDS), launched in October 2023, aims to modernize data infrastructure and enable the agency to link public health, healthcare, and social service data for timely and effective publication. The goal is to make data more accessible, timely, equitable, meaningfully usable, and protected, and to use these insights to promote the health and wellbeing of New Yorkers. The CPHDS seeks to strengthen agency-wide data capabilities by empowering the workforce, enhancing data sharing, and utilizing modern technology for trusted, integrated data and insights. A real-time and comprehensive view of city needs is crucial for enhancing public health actions and improving health outcomes for vulnerable New Yorkers. The Bureau of Data Technology and Strategy (DTS) is responsible for the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP), encompassing data strategy, governance, product management, engineering, and science. The Data Engineering and Product Management Unit within DTS focuses on modernizing the agency's data infrastructure, including large-scale data collection, processing, and analysis for the EDP, which is a cloud-based repository, catalog, and analytics environment supporting public health analysis, program delivery, and decision-making.
