About The Position

Airbyte is seeking a Director of Data & Analytics to own the data foundation that powers both its fast-growing Data Replication business and its new Agentic Data Platform. This role involves managing pipelines, BI tools, and the data layer for internal agents and activations. The position offers an opportunity to be an AI-native data leader, shaping how data is accessed and utilized through agents and AI infrastructure. The Director will report to the VP of Finance and GM of Data Replication and collaborate with leaders across both business units.

Requirements

• Strong data engineering skills: SQL, modern warehouse stacks (BigQuery or similar), dbt or equivalent, pipeline orchestration.
• Proven ability to build data systems, not just direct them.
• Track record of being a strategic data voice, translating product and usage data into actionable executive decisions, or clear evidence of readiness for this role.
• A strong point of view on simplification, with experience building or operating lean and scalable data functions.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging in board-level conversations and writing effective memos.
• Curiosity and energy around AI, viewing agents, LLMs, and modern AI tooling as core components of data team operations.
• Comfort with ambiguity and fast pace, particularly in usage-based SaaS, PLG motions, and rapidly evolving product surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Own the data platform end to end, including pipelines, warehouse, BI tools, and the data layer for internal agents and activations.
• Evolve the data platform as needs grow, ensuring it remains lean and scalable.
• Shape strategy and decisions by partnering with leaders across the company and providing sharp insights on usage, growth, retention, and product.
• Power internal AI workflows by building a reliable, structured, and well-modeled data foundation for querying data through agents.
• Support the Agentic Data Platform launch by providing the necessary data infrastructure for rapid shipping and learning.
• Build the team pragmatically, balancing hiring with external support to maintain a lean and focused operation.
