About The Position

Curri is seeking a Director of Data, an AI-forward leader to own the company's data end-to-end. This role involves steering the business with analytics and integrating machine learning into the product. The Director will define the data and ML roadmap, collaborate with product and engineering to implement data-driven features, and build the team and platform to enhance Curri's intelligence with each delivery. This is a hands-on role with significant product impact, moving beyond traditional reporting and dashboards.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in data and/or ML, with at least 3 years leading teams in a high-growth company.
  • Proven track record of product impact through data and ML initiatives.
  • Genuine depth in machine learning, with experience shipping models into production and owning their outcomes.
  • Fluency with a modern data stack, such as Snowflake or equivalent.
  • Strong judgment in building foundational data infrastructure.
  • Sharp product and business instincts, with a history of connecting data work to measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to influence roadmaps in collaboration with product and engineering leaders.
  • A builder's mentality and clear communication skills.
  • Comfortable with hands-on work, especially in the early stages of team scaling.
  • Ability to earn trust from both executives and engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in logistics, marketplace, or operations-heavy domains.
  • Experience establishing an AI-native or agentic approach to data and internal tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Own the data and machine learning roadmap, directly linking it to product outcomes and company metrics.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and operations to transform data into shipped features such as smarter routing, batching, deadhead reduction, pricing, and ETA accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities for machine learning and modern AI to significantly improve the product, driving these initiatives from concept to production.
  • Lead the strategy for machine learning within the Curri product, focusing on areas like routing and optimization, demand forecasting, pricing, and delivery intelligence.
  • Transition models from prototype to production, managing their performance, monitoring, and ongoing iteration.
  • Make strategic build-vs-buy decisions regarding models, tooling, and AI infrastructure.
  • Oversee the analytics function, including metrics, dashboards, and analyses critical for leadership decision-making.
  • Drive data-informed decision-making across all departments, including Go-To-Market, operations, and finance.
  • Enhance Curri's understanding of customers and lanes, focusing on penetration, expansion, and delivery economics.
  • Manage the data platform and warehouse (Snowflake), including data modeling, semantics, and quality assurance.
  • Establish standards for data governance, reliability, and trust to support company-wide data utilization.
  • Ensure data pipelines and infrastructure can scale effectively with Curri's growth.
  • Build, hire, and mentor a high-performing data and ML team.
  • Set high standards for technical craft and establish analytical foundations and best practices as the team expands.
