About The Position

Curri is seeking an AI-forward leader to serve as the Director of Data. This role will oversee all aspects of data at Curri, from analytics that guide business decisions to machine learning integrated into the product. The position involves setting the data and ML roadmap, collaborating with product and engineering teams to develop data-driven product features, and building the team and platform necessary to enhance Curri's intelligence with each delivery. This is a hands-on role with significant product impact, moving beyond traditional reporting and dashboards.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data and/or ML.
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams at a high-growth company.
  • Proven track record of product impact.
  • Genuine depth in machine learning, with experience shipping models into production and owning their outcomes.
  • Fluency with a modern data stack (Snowflake or equivalent).
  • Strong product and business instincts, with a history of connecting data work to measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to influence roadmaps alongside product and engineering leaders.
  • A builder's mindset and clear communication skills.
  • Comfortable with hands-on work, especially in the early stages of team scaling.
  • Ability to earn trust from both executives and engineers.

  • Logistics, marketplace, or operations-heavy domain experience.
  • Experience establishing an AI-native or agentic approach to data and internal tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Own the data and machine learning roadmap, aligning it with product outcomes and company metrics.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and operations to integrate data into shipped features, such as smarter routing, batching, deadhead reduction, pricing, and ETA accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage machine learning and modern AI to improve the product and drive these initiatives from concept to production.
  • Lead the strategy for machine learning within the Curri product, focusing on areas like routing and optimization, demand forecasting, pricing, and delivery intelligence.
  • Manage the transition of models from prototype to production, including their performance, monitoring, and ongoing iteration.
  • Make strategic decisions regarding the build versus buy approach for models, tooling, and AI infrastructure.
  • Oversee the analytics function, including defining key metrics, developing dashboards, and conducting analyses for leadership.
  • Promote data-informed decision-making across all departments, including Go-To-Market, operations, and finance.
  • Enhance Curri's understanding of customers and lanes by analyzing penetration, expansion, and delivery economics.
  • Manage the data platform and warehouse (Snowflake), ensuring effective modeling, semantics, and data quality.
  • Establish standards for data governance, reliability, and trust to support company-wide data utilization.
  • Ensure data pipelines and infrastructure can scale effectively with Curri's growth.
  • Build, hire, and mentor a high-performing data and ML team.
  • Set high standards for data craft and establish analytical foundations and best practices as the team expands.
