About The Position

Great Minds is a mission-driven organization dedicated to providing high-quality, knowledge-rich curricula in math, science, and ELA. As a for-profit Public Benefit Corporation, we aim to ensure all students have access to challenging and meaningful content, and that teachers have intuitive and effective tools. Our products, including Eureka Math, Wit & Wisdom, PhD Science, Geodes, and Arts & Letters ELA, are used in thousands of schools nationwide. We are entering a new phase of growth, focusing on connected, customer-informed experiences across the entire educator journey, from curriculum to professional learning and support. The Director, Curriculum Operations will report to the Senior Director, Content and Editorial and will be instrumental in the development and maintenance of print and digital curricular materials. This role involves managing significant operational aspects of the team's work, facilitating department operations, and supporting team members through mentorship, guidance, training, and feedback to enhance efficiency and align with the company's product vision.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in education publishing, curriculum development, K-12 education services, or a comparable organization with demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-workstream delivery (print and digital) on time and on budget.
  • 5+ years of experience in a team leadership role, managing the work of employees, contractors, or vendors.
  • Demonstrated track record managing large, complex, cross-functional projects with overlapping timelines.
  • Experience developing and managing multi-year project budgets, including forecasting, cost analysis, and account reconciliation.
  • Deep familiarity with content publishing workflows (print and digital).
  • Advanced proficiency in project management principles and tools (Smartsheet or similar).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and collaborative platforms (SharePoint, Google Workspace, or similar).
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, set goals, and drive teams to meet deadlines within budget.
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in assessing the financial impact of project changes and resource decisions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize diverse perspectives into a unified plan.
  • Ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with external vendors and contributors across simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to remain flexible in an ambiguous, fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Experience with change management for enterprise-level systems or process initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Senior Director to prioritize departmental initiatives, coordinate Content and Editorial resources effectively, and support department budget management.
  • Maintain ongoing cross-departmental communication to facilitate improvement of systems and processes, including the change management of new enterprise initiatives.
  • Support the development of Managing Editors as they collaborate with cross-functional teams to create work plans, schedules, resources, and guidelines that allow product development teams to deliver high quality work on time and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and contracts with external contributors and vendors to deliver high quality content at times for simultaneous projects or initiatives of different sizes.
  • Support department budget forecasting and account reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with Directors/Associate Directors, Managing Editors, and Managers to support calibration in relation to instructional design and editorial processes.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with leaders and professionals throughout the organization to ensure that vision, strategy, and products align to Great Minds’ mission and goals.
  • Foster a healthy, strong team culture that values humility, collaboration, continuous improvement, commitment to quality, and alignment to Great Minds’ knowledge building mission.
