About The Position

As our Credit Risk Director, you will help architect our global credit risk strategy. You’ll lead the charge in balancing growth with sound risk management, ensuring that as we scale into new markets and complex verticals, our financial integrity remains unshakeable. We need a leader who is as comfortable with data modeling as they are with operations and high-level executive strategy.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in credit risk, ideally within Fintech, Payments, or Banking.
  • Experience navigating market cycles.
  • Highly analytical; able to speak the language of SQL, Python, or BI tools to drive insights.
  • Exceptional communicator, able to translate complex financial risk concepts into clear, actionable advice for non-finance stakeholders.
  • Thoughtful people leader who encourages the growth and development of their team.
  • Experience managing risk across borders and understanding the nuances of international trade and currency volatility.
  • Experience profitably growing portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and iterate on a global credit risk framework that supports diverse verticals (education, healthcare, travel, and B2B).
  • Oversee the underwriting process for new and existing clients, ensuring deep due diligence and financial health assessment.
  • Partner with our Analytics and Engineering teams to build automated credit scoring models and risk monitoring tools that leverage real-time payment data.
  • Create a robust, lifecycle-based monitoring program that moves beyond static reviews. Implement granular, real-time account monitoring to track merchant financial health, settlement patterns, and transactional anomalies.
  • Establish a proactive Early Warning System to identify credit deterioration at the account level and lead decisive remediation or collateralization strategies to protect Flywire’s interests.
  • Guide Flywire’s entry into new geographies by assessing local credit environments, regulatory requirements, and sovereign risk factors.
  • Act as a key advisor to the Sales and Product teams, helping them structure deals and develop features that mitigate risk and allow for profitable growth of our portfolio.
