About The Position

Darkroom is seeking a visionary creative leader with deep experience in building platform-native content strategies for organic social, primarily Instagram and TikTok. The ideal candidate will be able to provide tactical feedback on content elements while understanding how to integrate brand world-building, content systems, and organic distribution. This role is for individuals passionate about social-first creative, AI in marketing, and contributing to a top-tier creative content culture. The Director will work directly on the Creative Team, collaborate with the Social Commerce team for creator and UGC content, and liaise with the Paid Media team to identify organic successes for paid scaling. This position is crucial as it often serves as the initial point of contact for each brand represented by Darkroom. The role is ideal for someone who excels at the intersection of creativity, AI, and platform fluency, blending visual storytelling with data-informed decisions. The Director will report to the Director of Creative, lead Designers and Editors, and execute organic assets across various formats. Their work will directly influence client growth through high-volume native content, elevated creative direction, and data-backed content frameworks. This is a fully remote role operating within the EST Time Zone, with all business conducted in English.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in a Director-level or equivalent leadership role, with experience leading content strategy, managing teams, and driving organic growth results.
  • 4+ years of organic social work, with specific focus on short-form video and native content for Instagram and TikTok. Must have grown an organic account or driven content strategy on these platforms.
  • A digital portfolio showcasing organic content work that includes short-form video, creator content, and carousels. Examples of what you did to move metrics like watch time, engagement rate, saves, or follower growth. Evidence of strong creative range across highly designed and low-fidelity, native content.
  • Ability to storyboard, shoot, cut, and ship content. Proficiency in CapCut for pacing adjustments and Figma, Photoshop, or Illustrator for asset polishing.
  • Deep understanding of platform metrics such as hook retention, watch time, completion rate, engagement rate, saves, shares, and follower growth, and ability to use them to inform content creation.
  • Understanding of how each platform's distribution works and why content earns reach.
  • Experience using tools like Claude, Midjourney, Perplexity, Runway, or similar to increase speed and volume. Experience shipping content with AI-assisted elements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and in client presentations. Ability to give crisp, actionable feedback to designers and editors and navigate client pushback.
  • Ability to turn vague goals into testable content concepts, track results, and call the next iteration without hand-holding.
  • Comfortable in Figma including Auto Layout, components, and systems.
  • Strong in Adobe Creative Suite and short-form editing tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead high-tempo content strategy and direction for full-funnel organic programs, typically Instagram and TikTok. Own content pillars, editorial calendars, creative direction, and the briefing process end-to-end.
  • Deliver expert advice, concepts, directions, and briefs to grow audiences and sell products through native short-form video.
  • Own each brand's social voice and presence. Direct community management, trend response, and the rapid-turnaround content that keeps a brand relevant in the feed.
  • Translate a client's brand strategy and platform data into clear, compelling content concepts. This includes metrics like hook retention, watch time, completion rate, engagement rate, saves, shares, follower growth, and comment sentiment. Adapt content to move these numbers.
  • Brief Designers and Editors on the creation of assets including short-form video, carousels, Stories, motion, and storyboards. Capable of jumping into Figma to shape up a layout or whip up an edit in CapCut.
  • Present content work and channel strategy to stakeholders and clients with clarity, confidence, and strategic rationale.
  • Monitor platform data and social listening in collaboration with the team to inform content iterations and improve results over time. Identify organic winners worth promoting into paid.
  • Establish processes, systems, and content frameworks that raise the floor on quality and speed. Continuously refine our Organic Social service so it scales without losing rigor as volume grows.
