About The Position

Provides leadership, vision and oversight of services provided by the Counseling Center; providing clinical supervision of full time staff, supervises and evaluates staff; facilitates methods for promoting excellent clinical performance, high-quality clinical services to all clients in the Counseling Center; carries a clinical caseload of clients at the Counseling Center, including initial triage screening and assessments, risk assessment, crisis management, individual/group/couples counseling, psycho-education, psychological assessment, and referrals to campus or community services as appropriate; and serves as mental health consultant to the campus community and works collaboratively across the University.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in mental health counseling, psychology, social work, or marriage and family therapy
  • At least four years of recent clinical experience
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with college age clients
  • A minimum of one year of experience with administrative duties
  • A current Iowa license as an independent mental health therapist or a licensed independent social worker required

Nice To Haves

  • PhD in counseling or clinical psychology
  • Experience working in a college or university counseling center
  • Experience supervising professional staff
  • Experience in the development of counseling and mental health services and programs in a university setting, including assessment, quality improvement, and use of data to inform decision-making
  • Experience developing group counseling, outreach and adult programs
  • Expertise in crisis intervention and management
  • An affinity for working in an interdisciplinary team
