About The Position

At TouchTunes, the world’s largest in-venue interactive music and entertainment platform, we’re all about sparking joy and human connection. We are innovators, strategic thinkers, people making the future possible today. We’re looking to expand our legal department with a rockstar Director and Corporate Counsel. You’ll work directly with our General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, and partner with our vendor services, finance, technology, and business teams, on a wide variety of projects, including deal negotiation and drafting, marketing campaigns, and other legal matters. You’ll be a high-impact player on your first day and have the opportunity to grow with our business. The ideal candidate will: (1) have very strong contract negotiation and drafting skills; (2) provide strategic, creative and effective legal and business advice; (3) use sound judgment in balancing legal risk against business needs and goals; (4) be an excellent communicator at all levels of an organization; and (5) thrive tackling complex challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with a strong academic record and bar admission in good standing (preferably in Illinois)
  • Previous in-house experience with a focus on contract work and prior experience at a major law firm, including progressive responsibility
  • Extensive contract work experience (3-6 years), including drafting and negotiating agreements and organizing a high volume of legal work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening, necessary for effective collaboration at all levels of an organization
  • Rigorous and thorough legal analytical skills, including the ability to generate elegant solutions that enable business goals while mitigating risk
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and excited to work as part of the larger legal organization
  • A desire to learn, to be challenged, and to grow in a fast-paced environment of innovators and strategic thinkers
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to perform primarily sedentary work, frequently using a computer (visual acuity, fine motor skills) and telephone (talking/hearing)
  • Ability to listen, to understand, and to follow verbal and written directions
  • Ability to exchange information in written format
  • Ability to learn the procedures, function, and limitations of assigned duties
  • Ability to recognize when there is a problem (when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong)
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense

Nice To Haves

  • Significant experience with privacy, data management, and/or cybersecurity is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own the contract lifecycle – Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements and other legal documents with customers, technology partners, service providers, vendors, and licensors
  • Refine how we work - Create new agreement templates, tools and processes to enhance how our team supports our business partners and creates consistency across our agreements
  • Share your expertise - Build and present training programs on contracts and substantive law topics to support business teams
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives - Support M&A activity, financing transactions, and other corporate initiatives as they arise
  • Partner with the business – Serve as a reliable, approachable legal advisor and provide partnership for business team projects
  • Bring a practical mindset to risk - Contribute to the company as a solutions-oriented legal advisor and risk manager, balancing legal risk with business objectives
