Director & Corporate Counsel
About The Position
At TouchTunes, the world’s largest in-venue interactive music and entertainment platform, we’re all about sparking joy and human connection. We are looking to expand our legal department with a rockstar Director and Corporate Counsel. You’ll work directly with our General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, and partner with our vendor services, finance, technology, and business teams, on a wide variety of projects, including deal negotiation and drafting, marketing campaigns, and other legal matters. You’ll be a high-impact player on your first day and have the opportunity to grow with our business.
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited w school with a strong academic record and bar admission in good standing (preferably in Illinois)
- Previous in-house experience with a focus on contract work and prior experience at a major law firm, including progressive responsibility
- Extensive contract work experience (3-6 years), including drafting and negotiating agreements and organizing a high volume of work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening, necessary for effective collaboration at all levels of an organization
- Rigorous and thorough legal analytical skills, including the ability to generate elegant solutions that enable business goals while mitigating risk
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and excited to work as part of the larger legal organization
- A desire to learn, to be challenged, and to grow in a fast-paced environment of innovators and strategic thinkers
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to perform primarily sedentary work, frequently using a computer (visual acuity, fine motor skills) and telephone (talking/hearing).
- Ability to listen, to understand, and to follow verbal and written directions
- Ability to exchange information in written format
- Ability to learn the procedures, function, and limitations of assigned duties
- Ability to recognize when there is a problem (when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong)
- Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Nice To Haves
- Significant experience with privacy, data management, and/or cybersecurity is a plus
Responsibilities
- Own the contract lifecycle – Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements and other legal documents with customers, technology partners, service providers, vendors, and licensors
- Refine how we work - Create new agreement templates, tools and processes to enhance how our team supports our business partners and creates consistency across our agreements
- Share your expertise - Build and present training programs on contracts and substantive law topics to support business teams
- Contribute to strategic initiatives - Support M&A activity, financing transactions, and other corporate initiatives as they arise
- Partner with the business – Serve as a reliable, approachable legal advisor and provide partnership for business team projects
- Bring a practical mindset to risk - Contribute to the company as a solutions-oriented legal advisor and risk manager, balancing legal risk with business objectives
