About The Position

Rightworks is seeking a Director of Corporate Communications, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, to lead corporate communications strategy and execution and strengthen the company’s reputation, visibility, and thought leadership across the accounting and technology markets. This hands-on leadership role will oversee corporate and executive communications, public relations, media relations, thought leadership, external storytelling, and executive presentations. The Director will partner closely with senior leaders and teams across Marketing to develop compelling narratives, ensure consistent messaging, and support key company and go-to-market priorities. As a player/coach, the Director will balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution, bringing exceptional writing and storytelling skills, strong judgment, and the ability to effectively support and advise senior executives. This is a hybrid position with the potential to work up to 3 days per week at our Nashua, NH headquarters, depending on location.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, executive communications, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience developing corporate narratives and translating business strategy into compelling communications.
  • Strong media relations experience, including building relationships with business and industry media.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and presentation-development skills.
  • Experience supporting senior executives with presentations, thought leadership, media interviews, podcasts, speaking engagements, and other external opportunities.
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining highly hands-on in execution.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience managing external agencies, vendors, and communications programs.
  • Strong judgment and ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in MSPs, SaaS, cloud platforms, managed technology solutions, or other B2B technology environments.
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical capabilities into clear customer value and differentiated messaging.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience marketing technology solutions to accounting firms or the accounting technology ecosystem.
  • Background in MSPs, SaaS, or other B2B technology environments.
  • Familiarity with developing communications for complex technology or business solutions.
  • Proven success supporting C-suite executives and company-level thought leadership programs.

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop executive presentations and communications that clearly articulate company strategy, business priorities, market insights, and key initiatives.
  • Establish the communications strategy, define measurable goals, and track performance across media visibility, thought leadership engagement, share of voice, and other key outcomes.
  • Prepare executives for podcasts, media interviews, speaking engagements, and other external appearances, including developing briefing presentations, materials, talking points, messaging, and interview preparation.
  • Own and execute Rightworks’ corporate communications and PR strategy, aligned with company and go-to-market priorities.
  • Write high-impact corporate content, including executive thought leadership, bylined articles, contributed content, company announcements, and other strategic communications.
  • Develop and maintain the corporate narrative and ensure consistent messaging across external communications.
  • Lead executive communications and thought leadership, including talking points, bylined articles, speaking opportunities, and other executive content.
  • Lead media relations, including proactive pitching, press relationships, company announcements, and contributed content.
  • Drive storytelling for key company, customer, partner, product, research, and corporate announcements.
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Growth Marketing, Creative, Content, Social, Customer Marketing, and other teams to ensure integrated messaging and execution.
  • Support reputation management, crisis communications, and sensitive corporate communications as needed.
  • Identify and manage awards, speaking opportunities, industry recognition, and other programs that build Rightworks’ market visibility.
  • Manage external contractors or vendors as needed.
  • Serve as a player/coach who is comfortable writing, editing, pitching, developing presentations, and executing communications directly.
