Requirements

  • Has 8+ years of experience in property and casualty actuarial work, including corporate actuarial experience.
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science and a professional designation (FCIA and/or FCAS).

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and supporting the appointed actuary’s activities, including actuarial liabilities valuation and the Financial Condition Examination (FCE), as well as the production of related reports.
  • Assessing reinsurance needs and managing relationships with reinsurance brokers and reinsurers.
  • Evaluating capital requirements and contributing to regulatory capital calculations.
  • Contributing to stress testing and quantitative analysis as part of the enterprise risk management process.
  • Producing actuarial financial projections for the budgeting process.
  • Overseeing business intelligence activities within the vice-presidency.
  • Supporting governance related to rate adequacy of insurance products.
  • Contributing to various projects, strategic initiatives, and cross-functional activities.
  • Identifying financial issues and new requirements related to your expertise and discussing them with the vice-presidency to establish appropriate strategies.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge in your field and staying informed of regulatory developments and actuarial standards of practice.
  • Supporting the professional development of team members through knowledge sharing.
  • Acting as a resource person for employees under your responsibility and ensuring regular and thorough follow-up on ongoing work.
  • Estimating and planning deliverables and communicating progress updates.
